Teaser Tuesday: "Rises the Night"

It's Tuesday again, which means it's time for me to post a few snippets from my current book!
As many of you probably already know, Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.
Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
~Grab your current read. Open to a random page. Share two (2) “teaser” sentences (or short paragraphs) from somewhere on that page. ~BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!) ~Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
Here's this week's teaser:

Title: Rises the Night

Author: Colleen Gleason
Publisher: Penguin Group (USA) Incorporated
Publication Date: June 2007
Genre: Paranormal Romance, Historical, Vampires
Summary (B&N):
In Italy, a powerful vampire is amassing the power to control the souls of the dead. Lady Victoria Gardella de Lacy-a vampire slayer for just over a year-races across Europe to stop what could be the most deadly army the Gardellas have ever faced. She is accompanied by Sebastian Vioget, a man as tempting as he is untrustworthy.
But when Victoria discovers that she has been betrayed by one of her most trusted allies, the truth will challenge all her powers as a Venator-and as a woman.
My Teaser, Page 104:

"I do love to hear you ask so prettily. Perhaps if I declined, you might be consigned to beg? I thought not." He settled back against the seat. "I neglected to tell you something else I learned about Polidori when I took care of things. He wore the brand of the Tutela. He was a member of the Tutela.

"Brand?"

"A symbol printed on the skin. It is called a tattoo, and it is made with ink and cannot be obliterated. He had the symbol of an ornate T intertwined with a snake on his upper arm, the historical symbol of the Tutela. The hound that is on the amulet is the symbol of the new movement rising in Italy."

Ooh... I haven't quiet got this far yet, but it sounds like this is where it's going to get interesting! :D I hope it didn't give too much away (Personally, I don't think it does, but if you've read it and think otherwise, just let me know and I can change/edit this post).

So far, the book is pretty good-- a unique take on a vampire book, that's for sure. Not many are set in the 1800's, with women being part of the vampire 'Slayer' group as well.

Tomorrow will be 'Waiting on Wednesday' again. No idea what book I'm going to spotlight, but I'll find something-- there are so many good ones that have not been released yet! :D

Enjoy!

Until Next Time, The Book Queen
