Lusting for Covers (35)

Lusting for Covers is a weekly meme, held on Sunday, that allows bloggers to share their current cover obsession with fellow book lovers.

Here's what you do:

1- Take the graphic (left) to use on your post. Remember to give credit to the original host (TBQ).

2- Choose your own book cover that you've fallen in "lust" with in the past week. It can be new, old, a reprint, or even a book that is not yet out-- it's all up to you! If you find a cover that catches your eye, then showcase it on your blog, and let others see the pretty covers out there.

3- Copy the direct link to your own L4C post into the comment section on my post (when in doubt, use this link and then scroll down to find the post), and allow others to come and see what you picked!
(OPTIONAL):

4- Besides posting the picture of the book cover you chose, it's nice to provide the book summary, title, author, or a website link for the book. It's not required, but it can help you readers' to add more books to their own list! A brief "Why I choose this cover" is also appreciated, but not required.

NOTE: PLEASE link back to my blog (http://tbqspersonalbookpalace.blogspot.com) somewhere in your post, letting viewers know that it is my meme, not something you are trying to call your own. Failing to do so, with the intent of actually calling this your own work, will result in trouble! I hate threatening, but really, is it so hard to post a link that says "This meme is hosted by TBQ."? Link love is great, and actually quite easy-- please use it!

Here's my candidate for the week:
Witch & Wizard: The Gift (Witch and Wizard)

Author: James Patterson
Publisher/Publication Date: Little, Brown Books for Young Readers (December 13, 2010)
Summary (Amazon):
When Whit & Wisty were imprisoned by the wicked forces of the totalitarian regime known as the New Order, they were barely able to escape with their lives. Now part of a hidden community of teens like themselves, Whit and Wisty have established themselves as leaders of the Resistance, willing to sacrifice anything to save kids kidnapped and brutally imprisoned by the New Order.

But the One has other plans in store for them: He needs Wisty, for she is "The One Who Has the Gift." While trying to figure out what that means, Whit and Wisty's suspenseful adventures through Overworld and Shadowland lead to a jaw-dropping climax and conclusion: the highly-anticipated fulfillment of the heart-pounding opening prologue of book one

Why?
It's a simple enough cover, yet my attention is still drawn to-- and held-- by the stunning blue on black image. :D Plus, Patterson's various works have always intrigued me, and I usually end up reading all of them after they come out. This one will be no exception!

Heads Up-- A Better Way to Find Giveaways!

I just came acrossed a (new to me) website that allows you to search hundreds of blogs for on-going giveaways-- from books to jewlery and almost anything in between. This amazing site is called Giveaway Scout, and I think you guys will love it!

You can even submit your own blog to be added to the list-- fill out a simple form, and if it's accepted, the site will check your blog every so often for giveaways you may be hosting and list them on the site for free. Or, after your blog has been added to the site, you can manually add the giveaway information yourself!

Needless to say, I'm signing up, and I'll probably be looking on it often for more book giveaways-- after all, not all of us have the time to search every blog out there for the current contests, and this way you can find it all in one spot. Sounds like my kind of website!

Oh, and don't forgot to enter my contest for a copy of The Eternal Ones! The contest ends August 29th, so hurry up and enter! For full details on the rules, the book, and how to enter, click HERE!

Until Next Time!

Enjoy,

Here's my candidate for the week:

In Dreams Begin

Author: Skyler White
Publisher/Publication Date: Berkley Trade (November 2, 2010)
Summary (Amazon):
From a Victorian Ireland of magic, poetry and rebellion, Ida Jameson, an amateur occultist, reaches out for power, but captures Laura Armstrong, a modern-day graphic artist instead. Now, for the man or demon she loves, each woman must span a bridge through Hell and across history . . . or destroy it.

"Every passionate man is linked with another age, historical or imaginary,
where alone he finds images that rouse his energy." W. B. Yeats

Anchored in fact on both sides of history, Laura and Ida, modern rationalist and fin de sicle occultist, are linked from the moment Ida channels Laura into the body of celebrated beauty and Irish freedom-fighter Maud Gonne. When Laura falls--from an ocean and a hundred years away--passionately, Victorianly in love with the young poet W. B. Yeats, their love affair entwines with Irish history and weaves through Yeats's poetry until Ida discovers something she wants more than magic in the subterranean spaces in between.

With her Irish past threatening her orderly present and the man she loves in it, Laura and Yeats--the practical materialist and the poet magus--must find a way to make love last over time, in changing bodies, through modern damnation, and into the mythic past to link their pilgrim souls . . . or lose them forever.

Why?
I've not read White's previous novel yet, but after reading the information on this one, I think I'll be putitng both on my list next! The cover for In Dreams Begin is great-- dark, compelling, interesting. Add to that the unique story line, and who wouldn't want to pick this one up?

Here's my candidate for the week:

Ecstasy in Darkness

Author: Gena Showalter
Publisher/Publication Date: Pocket Star (October 26, 2010)
Summary (Amazon):
New York Times bestselling sensation Gena Showalter enthralls with a dark, tantalizing world of humans, otherworlders, powers beyond imagining, and a seductive vampire undone by his insatiable hunger for one woman. . . .Growing up poor on New Chicago’s meanest streets, Ava Sans had two options: be the predator or be the prey. No contest. Now, working for Alien Investigation and Removal, she’s been ordered to capture the biggest, baddest warrior of all—a vampire too beautiful to be real, with the abilityto manipulate time. Once the leader of the entire vampire army, McKell has been deemed savage and unstable, spurned even by his own kind.To McKell, humans should be nothing more than sustenance. Yet the petite, golden-skinned Ava is a fascinating contradiction—vicious yet witty, strong yet vulnerable, lethal but fiercely loyal. Against his better judgment, McKell craves that loyalty, and much more. When the chase leads to seduction, McKell and Ava will race to discover the truth about his past. But the answers will come at a price, even for a woman who thought she had nothing left to lose. . . .

Why?
First-- it's a Showalter book. Who wouldn't drool over it?! Second, the cover model, once again, is gorgeous-- who wouldn't want to "hug" that?! :D And third, well, the book sounds very interesting as well--- like all her books, of course. I can't wait to get my hands on this one!
