Blog Tour: Interview w/ Christi Snow!

WELCOME TO THE BLOG, CHRISTI! :)

As an avid reader her entire life, Christi Snow always dreamed of writing books that brought to others the kind of joy she felt when she read. But...she never did anything about it besides jot down a few ideas and sparse scenes.

When she turned 41, she decided it was time to go after her dream and started writing. Within four months, she'd written over 150,000 words and hasn't stopped since.

She's found her calling by writing about sexy, alpha heroes and smart, tough heroines falling in love and finding their passion. She's truly living the dream and loving every minute of it.

Her tagline is... Passion and adventure on the road to Happily Ever After. She's loving this adventure!

Where to Find Christi:

~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~

The_Book_Queen: Hi Christi! Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

Christi: First of all, I am a huge reader. I have my own book review blog where I read and review over 400 books a year. I’m 42 years old and have been living my Happily Ever After with my hubby for over 20 years. 2 years ago, he retired from the Air Force and we relocated to be close to family back in Texas. We have a 17 yo son and a 5 yo daughter and they keep me pretty busy.

TBQ: If you hadn't become an author, what else would you have done? (Or, would you still like to do?)

C: Most of my life I’ve been creative. For most of my adult life, I’ve been very active in the papercrafting community creating cards and scrapbook pages. In fact, I’ve worked with several manufacturers and magazines creating art for them to show over the years. That fell by the wayside as I became obsessed with my writing. But if the writing hadn’t come along, then I’m sure I’d still be doing that.

TBQ: Operation: Endgame is book 1 in your When the Mission Ends series. Can you tell us a little bit about this book, and why readers are going to love it?

C: Operation: Endgame is the story of three best friends: Jake and twins: Chris & Cassie. Their world is drastically altered when Chris’s jet is shot down and he dies. That one event changes everything for Jake & Cassie and neither one are sure they or their friendship will recover. But when Cassie’s life is endangered by a stalker, they are suddenly faced with what is truly important in their lives…each other.

TBQ: Are there other genres you would like to write?

C: Yes!! If only my days were 48 hours long, I might have a chance to write all the books I want to write. I actually have a Paranormal Dystopian series started called Through the Veil. I hope to release the first book shortly after the release of Book #3, Operation: Endurance, of this series (which releases in April)…so I am thinking it will release sometime around May.

Then I always have some general contemporary romance novels and novellas brewing. One I’m really excited about it called Confessions of a Book Blogger. I need to get that finished. Also, I hope to release a couple of novellas this year, but so far haven’t managed to keep my word counts down like I hope. But it’s a goal for the next year. (Good luck--sounds like some great projects in the works, can't wait! :) )

TBQ: I know we all hate this question, author and reader alike. :) But I have to ask: What are a few of your favorite books and/or authors? Or what are a few books you've read recently that you are dying to share with others?

C: This is such a hard question just because I read so much and there are so many amazing authors out there. But I do have a few authors who are on my auto-buy list:

*Jill Shalvis (contemporary romance)
*Christy Reece (romantic suspense)
*Gena Showalter (paranormal)
*Julie James (contemporary)
*Larissa Ione (paranormal)
*Kristan Higgins (contemporary romance)

In the past month, I have discovered two new authors that I just love so far.

*Mia Downing writes erotica and erotic suspense and her books are just filled with such emotion. I have loved everything of hers that I’ve read, especially Spy Games: Trained for Seduction.

*Toni Aleo writes a hockey series that I just read last week featuring the Nashville Assassins (NHL hockey team). There are three books so far in the series and all three have been just wonderful reading. She writes angst really well!

Ooh, a lot of great authors plus many I need to look into! :)
TBQ: Describe your idea of a perfect hero (in real life or fiction—or both!) :D

C: I love an alpha who is a take charge kind of guy, but not afraid to show some emotion. I love it when the guy’s one vulnerability (the place where he can be hurt) is through his love. Being in love means opening yourself up emotionally to someone else and that’s what makes a great hero in my book…oh, and it probably doesn’t hurt if he has a great set of abs too! ;o) (Yes, please--on everything!)

TBQ: What's next-- Can you tell us a little bit about your upcoming releases or WIP?

C: Aww, we were just talking about my favorite alphas weren’t we? My next release, Operation: Endeavor (book #2 in the When the Mission Ends trilogy coming out in January) features my all-time favorite alpha, Colton. Colton is Cassie’s big brother. He’s bossy and domineering and only wants to take care of those he loves, whether they want him to or not. He’s met his match with Penelope. She’s a dippy hippy chick with way more brains than her party girl attitude reveals. They are a true case of opposites attract.

SPEED ROUND:

A day on a secluded island OR a day at the spa?
Spa *sigh*- I’m imagining the relaxation of it now.

Reading a spicy romance novel OR a sweet “my-heart-skips-a-beat” one?
I like spicy!

Which would you rather have an affair with: a sexy highlander OR a devilishly handsome English lord?
Highlander…all the way. Gotta love those kilts! (YES!)

Hot summer days OR cold winter nights?
Cold winter nights…perfect for snuggling!

Where would your dream house be: in the city, where all the action is OR nestled in the mountain where you can enjoy the quiet and the wilderness?
Mountains….we love the mountains and hiking.

If you could live in any time period, past or future, which one would it be?
Honestly, I kind of like now.

Cover Lover OR Blurb Fan?
Both?? I probably buy more books simply because of a gorgeous cover, but it really doesn’t take too much to convince me that I need a book, as my groaning bookshelves will show you. (Yep, I'm guilty of this as well...)

Steamy Novella OR Sweet Novel? (aka, Quickie or Slow Build Up?)
Steamy!

And finally, tell us 3 unique/wacky/fun things about yourself:

  1. I do my best story plotting in the shower.
  2. I cannot stand to garden because lizards and worms freak me out. (Me, too!)
  3. I have a phobia about carousels.

The_Book_Queen: Thanks so much for stopping by, Christi, and please know that you are welcome back anytime! Do you have any questions for our readers—something to spark a good discussion? :)

Christi: Thank you so much for having me here. I had a great time answering all of your really fun questions.

Let’s turn one of these questions

back on you all…

Excerpt

Cassie had taken a handful of cocktail dresses into the dressing room with her. She came out in one of them now and twirled in front of him. He felt like he’d swallowed his tongue. After she finished twirling, she stood with her back to him, looking at herself in the mirror. She tilted her head to the side and said, “What do you think? Too much?”

Too much? Was she insane? There was no dress there. It was black, sparkly, and clung to her every curve. From the front, it seemed rather sedate with long black sleeves and a high neckline. At least, that was the case if you didn’t look down to the miniscule length of the skirt that showed off the miles of her long toned legs. But when she turned around, the back was nonexistent. There was nothing there besides miles of skin from the top of her spine all the way to the top of her ass. Four draped strands of thin rhinestones stretched across the top expanse of the milky skin of her back, but with a simple little flick of the wrist, the entire dress could be dropped in half a second.  His fingers itched with the desire to do just that, but he clenched his hand into a fist to keep from reaching towards her.

He didn’t realize he was sitting there staring, until Cassie spoke. “Okay, you’re going to have to give me a hint here. Does the mouth hanging open mean you like it? Or does it look so hideous you just don’t know what to say?”

Jake snapped his jaw shut and cleared his throat. “No, hideous is not the word I was thinking, but do you honestly think you need to show that much skin?” He scowled at her, thinking about all the guys drooling over her at this party.

At that moment another customer walked up who had been surreptitiously observing them while she shopped. “Girl, don’t listen to him. You look gorgeous! Your boyfriend just doesn’t want to deal with any competition.”

Jake flushed in embarrassment, but Cassie didn’t even notice. “Oh, he’s not my boyfriend….just a friend, actually more like a brother than anything.”

He sure wasn’t having any brotherly thoughts about her right now.

What a fun interview! If you guys move up here to CT, you can garden all you like, preferably in my garden. No lizards or anything weird.

Wow - great scene - makes me want to go grab the book and start reading. My favorite heroes all wage an internal struggle to be gentle and caring when their heart is racing to pounce. The onces that wait and want to convey one night stand is not an option are my favorites.

Very nice interview ladies :) I'm loving the sounds of Colton. He sounds like a fantastic hero :) You're perfect hero sounds pretty darn good too!

And so with you on the lizards and worms. One of the few things that'll make me squeal like a girl ;)
