Kame's Review:

“She kissed him. Just once. With all the sweetness she’d brought into his life in just a short time.”

The first book in the Kelly Group International series by Maya Banks first chapter brought me to tears, in the second book in the series Maya Banks turns up the heat on the first page!  Sam Kelly is in as he puts it “BumF* Mexico” on a mission, but he has been captivated by Sophie – a woman he meets in a bar.  They have been sharing their evenings in his hotel room for 2 weeks. One morning a knock on his hotel room door brings a sealed note, a break in the case he is working with his brothers. In his heart Sam knows he will come back to find Sophie.

Five months later Sophie has run out of places to hide, she has tried to stay away from Sam to keep him safe, but she has run out of time and there is someone more important that needs protection now; Sam’s unborn child. Sam went back to Mexico to look for Sophie but could not find her, then one day he is sitting on his dock and in the water sees someone floating on a log, he jumps in the water and is shocked to not only find out it is Sophie, but that she is pregnant.

The suspense story that follows is heart pounding. Sophie needs protection from the moment she is found in the water.  Trusting someone is one of the hardest things for Sophie, she has always had to take care of herself.  Sam has his own trust issues and is constantly second guessing Sophie’s motives. That makes a great story, but include the dialogue between Sam and his brothers and it propels this book into 5 stars.

“You’re not still hung up on that chick are you?” (Garrett)
“What the hell are you talking about?” (Sam)
“We’re in f* Mexico trying to set up a buy with Alex Mouton, and lover boy takes time out to have some hot fling with a waitress in one of the local watering holes.” (Garrett)
“So? He still has a dick. Bound to use it sometime”. (Donovan)

These brothers know how to razz each other, but they also know how to protect family. All my favorite characters made appearances in this book, and we got to know a few members of the team a little better. Every sweet scene between Sam and Sophie was matched with a scene that ratcheted up the suspense to a twist at the end that caught me by surprise. Sophie’s bravery almost brought me to tears. And when Sam doubted Sophie’s honor I wanted to slap his face.

After borrowing the first book in the KGI series from the library and enjoying it so much I ended up buying this book for my Nook; I didn’t not want to endure the long waiting list to borrow this book.  I am not even going to look to see how long the wait is for KGI book 3; I am just going to my Nook and buying it now!

5 STARS and if I had more to give I would!

Meet Kame:

Kame is part of a family of readers; one day she picked up the Nook she purchased for her husband and discovered her love of e-books. A few months later he purchased one for her so he could have his back! Kame’s Nook is never far, and she is hard pressed to pick a favorite book, genre or author. As long as there are characters that make her want to sit down and have a chat and a plot keeps the pages turning, she’ll read it.

KAME, I love Sam and Sophie! You summarized their story brilliantly. I really like the quotes section of your review. I hope that is going to be standard in all of your upcoming KGI reviews.

LB I am so happy to see you here! Thank you so much for your comments and your support. Some of the quotes really make me laugh - and I highlight many while I am reading - then I go back and find the perfect one for what I am trying to convey. The brothers had so many it was hard to choose - but that one was a "complete" conversation so easy to follow. Once I have my little cowboy diversion I am in right now - I will be heading towards Garrets story and KGI#3. Thanks again for stopping by!

RM you would love this book - the male characters give each other so much junk - I think next to Because of You this is the perfect book for a man to read. Thank you for coming to leave a comment - I know you are busy and it means a lot to me.
