Interview w/ Debra Smith + Giveaway!

WELCOME TO THE BLOG, DEBRA! :)

I love romance of all kinds. I've been writing all my life and decided to follow my passion. Thanks to a loving husband and the chaos caused by my three wonderful children I find inspiration in all things. I love hearing from writers and readers so feel free to contact me.

Where to Find Debra:

~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~

The_Book_Queen: Hi Debra! Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

Debra: I love traveling. I would love to one day, backpack across Europe. I love learning about new cultures. Growing up, I would spend the summer hiking on my grandparent’s ranch in Wyoming.

TBQ: If you couldn't write, what other dream would you have followed?
D: I wanted to be a Zoologist and work for National Geographic as a wildlife photographer.

TBQ: Your newest release, The Keeper of the Key, came out in November. Can you tell us a little bit about this book, and why readers are going to love it?

D: This is my first release with a traditional publisher. Kate is dreamer at heart. After her first love passed away, she’s content to spend her time reading romances in her book store. She receives a letter from her deceased husband telling her to seek out Xander for answers. He ends up saving her many times in the journey leading to the mythical land of Shangri La. Some may say Kate is naïve but she has a good heart and sees good in everyone. Xander sees her as brave.

TBQ: Are there other genres you would like to write about?

D: I love reading all genres of romance but PNR is a favorite of mine to write, so who knows?

TBQ: I know we all hate this question, author and reader alike. :) But I have to ask: What are a few of your favorite books and/or authors?

D: I love Kresley Cole, JR Ward, Gena Showalter, Sherrilyn Kenyon and Shelly Laurenston. Anything they write is a must read for me. (All great authors!)

TBQ: Have you ever fallen for a hero, either from one of your books or from another author? If so, who is he and what drew you to him?

D: I love an over-protective Alpha. One that sticks out in my mind is Vane from Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Were-hunters. I love that he mated a real woman. Go Bride! (I agree--LOVE Bride and Vane!)

TBQ: What's next-- Can you tell us a little bit about your upcoming releases or WIP?

D: I tend to jump from WIP to WIP depending on my muse. Right now I’m working on the second book for my Shangri La Secrets Trilogy. Devon and Crystal’s book tentatively titled The Keeper of Hearts. I’m really loving where the story is going. Devon is fighting his nature determined not to become a monster like his stepfather. Crystal, still a virgin, is trying her best to sooth his beast.

Series: Shangri La Secrets, 1
Genre: Paranormal Romance

Kate, an everyday book store owner, is thrown into a world of danger after receiving a letter from her deceased husband. She follows the clues into the arms of Xander, a tough guy she can’t stop herself from responding to. Her body ignites from a single glance, and she is unable to control her passions. Despite her love they are doomed to fail, because a human can never survive a vampire's hunger.

Xander admires the fiery temper of the seductive human he’s determined to help follow the dangerous trail her dead husband sent her on, ending in the mythical land of Shangri La. In an effort to save her, Xander bonds them together, sentencing her to death unless he can undo the blood tie. Though he craves her touch, he's forced to push her away while they battle their way to the chaos at the heart of Shangri La. Can he protect her from her family’s secrets and find a way to be together, or will their love be lost in the pits of a crumbling castle?

Don't forget to answer Debra's question:

Xander is a vampire and Devon is a werewolf. Which do you prefer, vampire or werewolf?

Personally, I love them both, it all depends on the story and the character.....But everyone knows that I have a thing for Shifters. Any kind, I'm not too picky! :D

Enjoy!

When I think of vampires, Robert Pattinson comes to mind. With werewolves, Alcide from Trueblood. Whew! There's no question about it. Werewolves-shifters-rule! :)

What a hard question, I think I look at the man not the otherness. If his heart is good and his actions match with strength of character - I don't care if he drinking blood or tuning furry LOL Love them both in a good read. Thank you for sharing with us today and don't think anything of it you can talk to the animals anytime you want and no one will think anything off it, but should they start participating in the conversation, you might want to keep that on the down low ;=D I am so with you in the car as well it is the best time for letting loose and singing, especially when the car has good shocks. Looking forward to reading The Keeper of the Key it sound really tasty. Happy Holidays!!!
