[Review]: "His Christmas Wish"

His Christmas Wish by Marquita Valentine
Series: Holland  Springs, 3.5 [novella, 89 pages]
Genre: Contemporary Romance

There's no time like the Present...

War Hero, Joaquin Morales, returns to Holland Springs after years of estrangement from his family...and his wife. His new mission: To convince his wife that they have a Future together.

Falling in love with her husband for the second time was *not* a part of Sage Caswell's plans for the Holiday Season. She's convinced that what they had belongs in the Past.

My Review:

Though His Christmas Wish may be short, it's not lacking anything! Within these pages, Marquita Valentine has once again shown us two characters who have to work through things to get their HEA. It's not insta-love or inst-lust; it's real, it's a relationship, and that's one of the things I love most about Valentine's books.

He still smelled of sand, sorrow and violence. There wasn't enough detergent on the planet to get it out of his clothes. Not enough soap to scrub it from his skin. And there was nothing that could rip it out of his soul.

Joaquin was a perfect tortured hero. A brave man who served for his country while missing his wife, angry with himself that things didn't work out between them before he left. Now he's home—to make Saga fall in love with him again, to forgive him.

Sage fell for Gage (Joaquin in reality) during their pen-pal journey the last few years. She suspected it was really her husband, but wasn't sure (or at least not ready to admit it to herself) until he came back to town. Now she must learn to fight for what she wants—him—even if it means going against her family.

Favorite Quote:

“What's mine is yours...and you're mind.” Deliberately, he let his gaze drop to her lips. Her pink tongue darted out and licked the bottom. He went rock hard.
“That's not how the saying goes,” she said breathlessly. Her chin tipped up fractionally, but it was enough to make him step closer, so close that only a small distance separated them and he bent his bed.
Her hand pressed against his chest and he trembled, imagining how it would feel against his bare skin. How soft her skin would be. How sweet her touch. It was everything he needed, softness and comfort. He dreamt of it, of her, night after night. The tangible and intangible—the rarest of commodities while fighting a war. “That's how it goes for us.”

5 STARS! A sexy and touching Christmas novella, His Christmas Wish is one that you won't want to miss! I've said it before, but I'll say it again—go now and pick up this entire series, and put Marquita Valentine on your auto-buy list, just like I have! :)

Ahhhh I loved this one too :) It was my first one by Valentine and definitely had me hooked too. I really liked that they had a history between them. I'm reading on Twice Tempted right now and trying to go slow since I know I'm running out of books in the series really quick. LOL I'll be right there with you "patiently" waiting for the next one ;)

And oh yeah loved that second quote. Had me melting :) Nice review TBQ!

Finished it last night :) It was really good but man I don't think I've met two characters I alternatively wanted to smooch or strangle quite so much! LOL Those two were something else! But a fun read and can't wait until I can work the next book into my reading :)
