"I never stopped loving you, I just stopped begging for you. There's a difference."

Two Sides of a Heartbeat is book 2 of the Running Series and the continuation of Grayson and Alexandra's romantic journey through courtship, hardship and undeniable love.

After a beautiful proposal, Dr. Grayson Brooks pleads with his fiancé, Alexandra Morrison, not to get on the plane. Once the plane is in the air, the events that unfold turn their lives upside down. The tragedy and loss engulfs both families in a situation that spirals out of control.

Secrets are revealed and the past once again haunts both families. As if that isn't enough, Oliva Balcone, once engaged to Grayson and romantically involved with his twin brother, Harrison, returns to Dallas and stirs up more feelings and a lot trouble.

Alexandra was so close to haring it all. A baby, a gorgeous husband, and family united. Will she survive her attackers to have everything she craves?

Kame's Review:

This book starts within minutes of the ending of the first book of DeLaine Roberts Running Series. Which was great since Running To You ended in a cliff hanger. Alexandra has boarded her father’s jet for a quick round trip to Chicago to pack her things and come back to Grayson’s waiting arms; however the plane has been highjacked. Everyone Alexandra holds dear to her heart works with the authorities to help find her. After Alexandra has been rescued she and Grayson must navigate these new traumas and fears right along with resolving the trust issues that have plagued their relationship, but under it all there still is a deep love.

This book has the same easy reading vibe as Running To You. It can be read for a chapter or two and then put down and picked back up for a few more minutes of reading if that is all your day allows.  Since it picks up where the other book left off it is not best suited as a stand-alone book, you should read Running To You first.  Cooper still has fantastic banter with the characters in this book, and there is a fair amount of steamy scenes. One important new character was introduced, all other characters were introduced in the first book and minimal background was given for a few characters, most did not have any additional background given.  This leant itself to a book that felt like an old friend. The relationships between characters are what make this book wonderful.   Alexandra and Tara share a special bond that I found refreshing.  I don’t want to share much as it would be a spoiler, however Tara is a great friend at a significant point in Alexandra’s life and it is a role I have rarely seen in a book I have read.  Their deep conversation brought tears to my eyes. I applaud DeLaine Roberts for including the scene that so many authors would have bypassed.

Two Sides Of A Heartbeat is a great read if you like a love story that envelops you in a warm hug. I just smiled when I finished this book.  It marks the ending of Alexandra’s search for love, no cliff hanger in this book! However there are some open storylines that I hope lead to the series continuing with a certain couple close to Alexandra. I was not disappointed with DeLaine Roberts’ newest book, and I look forward to reading more of her heartwarming stories in the future.

Meet Kame:

Kame is part of a family of readers; one day she picked up the Nook she purchased for her husband and discovered her love of e-books. A few months later he purchased one for her so he could have his back! Kame’s Nook is never far, and she is hard pressed to pick a favorite book, genre or author. As long as there are characters that make her want to sit down and have a chat and a plot keeps the pages turning, she’ll read it.
