Here's my candidate for the week:

The Accidental Duchess by Madeline Hunter
Publisher: Jove (June 3, 2014)
Series: Fairbourne Quartet, 4
Genre: Historical Romance

From New York Times bestselling author Madeline Hunter comes this seductive tale of a headstrong young lady, a scandalous manuscript, and the iron-willed duke determined to save her from her ruin. For fans of Mary Balogh, Eloisa James, and Julia Quinn.

When Lady Lydia Thornton is blackmailed over the shocking contents of a manuscript she once wrote, she must go to the most desperate of measures to raise the money to buy back the ill-considered prose: agreeing to an old wager posed by the arrogant, dangerous Duke of Penthurst. At least Penthurst is a man she wouldn’t mind fleecing—and she’s confident she’ll win.

Penthurst long ago concluded Lydia was a woman in search of ruinous adventure, but even he is surprised when she arrives at his house ready to bet her innocence against his ten thousand pounds—a wager he only proposed to warn her off gambling.

When she loses to a simple draw of the cards, Lydia is shocked. Now, her problems are twofold: a blackmailer determined to see her pay and a duke determined to tame her rebellious ways. One misstep and Lydia could find herself ruined—or bound to the seductive man who would make her his duchess.

Why?

The pretty dress and the font for the title grabbed my attention last week, and I knew I had to share! I may not read as many historical romances as I once did, but I still enjoy staring at their gorgeous covers!

I have not read Ms. Hunter's books in a long time, but I recall liking the ones I read.

Kame's Pick

Hate to Love You by Elise Alden
Publisher: Carina Press (June 2, 2014)
Genre: NA Contemporary

Despite my slutty reputation, I was technically a virgin at eighteen—though that tosser Alex sure shot hard and reached long. The faint positive on the budget pregnancy test sent me spinning, moments before I was supposed to meet my snooty sister’s new fiancé.

Shaking hands with upper-crusty James was like downing a triple shot of vodka. Dizzy with desire, confused by my body’s reaction, and shocked by the possessiveness flashing in his eyes, I deceived him that night and told the world at their wedding reception.

The truth?
I slept with my sister’s fiancé. Hot and sweaty, all night long in a room so dark he couldn’t tell I wasn’t her.

The lie?
Said fiancé is the father of my child. The one I signed over my rights to just before he was born.

That was seven years ago.

It’s time to come clean.

Kame: I think it is just a great cover – not sexy – making me swoon – but wonderfully done. I love this cover for its simplicity and the photography.

TBQ: I have to agree with Kame on this. It's funny though; right before Kame sent me this cover, I had a funny conversation with a group of readers on Twitter about it's blurb. WTF, right? And confusing -- is she a virgin that was impregnated by his magic sperm without penetration? I can't stop to think about the blurb for too long or it gives me a headache . . .

Anyway, we managed to convince one reader to take one for the team and try the book; she ended up DNFing it before 50%, unable to connect with the characters and the story was just as o.0 as the blurb makes it sounds.

So I guess this just goes to show you that sometimes we shouldn't judge a book by its cover . . .

*NOTE: If you have read this book, please share your thoughts with us - good or bad! :)
