Pat's Review:

Roman Smith is an assassin. He is a Russian contract killer, but he kills only the scum of the earth, at least that's what he tells himself. But, Roman also has a completely different world. He is a book shop owner in Raleigh, North Carolina that specializes  in rare and very expensive printings. In reality he has only one customer, Everly Andrews. Everly doesn't know this book store is just a front.  She is a sweet "southern belle" type woman, who runs an Internet store for collectibles.  She is a romance novel fanatic, especially  by her favorite author Zoe Ambrose.  Roman orders books for Everly and she stops by weekly like clockwork to pick them up. It's just about the only time Roman relaxes.  On one of her weekly visits, she pays for her books, but notices Roman acting a bit strangely and rushing her out the door.  She returns when she realizes in her rush, she forgot her coat. Everly finds Roman on the floor, close to bleeding to death after being shot at least twice.  The adventure begins...

This first book in the trilogy totally grabbed my interest. It reads like an old fashioned murder mystery, I can hear a faint whisper of Alfred Hitchcock in the background. The suspense Is immediate and so is the romance. Everly and Roman are obviously attracted to each other, Roman tries to keep his distance because of his secret life,  Everly is getting mixed signals from Roman and is afraid to open up.  There is serious heat, but life keeps putting obstacles in their way.  At the end of the first book, Roman asks Everly "Trust me, love. I'll take good care of you. Come with me."  I'm anxiously waiting for book two, I can't wait to see where Roman takes her.  Book Two is released in July.

5 STARS!
