[Pat's Review]: "Bringing Home the Bad Boy"

Bringing Home the Bad Boy by Jessica Lemmon
Publisher: Forever (January 27, 2015)
Series: Second Chance, 1
Genre: Contemporary Romance

The Bad Boy Is Back

Evan Downey needs a new beginning. Since the death of his wife five years ago, the brilliant tattoo artist has shut himself away in a prison of grief that not even his work can break him out of-and what's worse, Evan knows his son Lyon is bearing the brunt of his seclusion. Moving back to the lake town of Evergreen Cove where he spent his childhood summers is his last chance for a fresh start.

Charlotte Harris knows she owes it to her best friend's memory to help Evan and his son find their way again, but she can't stop her traitorous heart from skipping a beat every time she looks into Evan's mesmerizing eyes. Charlotte is determined to stay strictly in the Friend Zone-until a mind-blowing night knocks that plan by the wayside. Now, if they're brave enough to let it, Charlotte and Evan might just find a love capable of healing their broken hearts . . .

Pat\s Review:

Evan Downey was packing up his home, seven year old son and moving. Hopefully leaving very painful memories behind. Four years ago his young vibrant wife Rae, mother of his then three year old son, collapsed suddenly and died. Every corner of the house stirs memories.  It was time to start over. Evan was a tattooist and illustrator, he could work anywhere, his body was covered with his own designs.

Charlotte Harris called Charlie, was Rae's best friend since they were children.
Charlie remember's the day with a chill when she got the call from Evan. It runs through her mind often.  Charlie is living in Evergreen Cove at a beautiful beach house  she and her former lover purchased together. They had been together six years, and Russell, who stated emphatically he never wanted to marry or have children, left Charlie for a woman with children. Hard to swallow, but the beach house helped her heal.  Now, Evan and his son Lyon are moving next door. The beach, the small community where he had grown up and Aunt Charlie close by convinced Evan this is where he should be.

From the beginning of the story, it was obvious Evan was ready to live again. Charlie's guilt was tying her in knots. She was often whispering "sorry Rae." Lyon was an adorable seven year old, obviously being raised with a lot of love.

The Bad Boys of Evergreen were Evan, Asher Knight now a rock star and Donavan Pate a very successful business man. Evan and Asher were working on a follow up to a successful children's story Asher had written.

The characters are delightful and feel very real. I did occasionally want to give Charlie a little shake. She couldn't seem to stop saying I'm sorry!   I recommend this wonderful story of friends to lovers and I'm looking forward to the next in the series. Looks like we'll get to meet Donovan!

4 STARS!

I have not read any of her books, but this cover caught my eye. And friends to lovers is my favorite trope! Thanks for the review!
