[Pat's Review]: "No One Like You"

No One Like You by Kate Angell
Publisher: Kensington (April 28, 2015)
Series: Barefoot William, 4
Genre: Contemporary Romance

No One Expects a Curveball

For Rylan Cates, the gloriously sunny beachside town of Barefoot William may be home, but the pro baseball player needs to focus on spring training. Hiring a personal assistant to keep him and his four dogs organized for the next eight weeks is the first step--and Beth Avery is the perfect pinch hitter.

Beth is still looking for her place in the world, and a couple months caring for Rylan's two dachshunds, his golden retriever, and a Great Dane named Atlas should shore up her finances before she moves on. Except it's Atlas who won't budge, pushing her toward tanned, scruffy, sexy Rylan every chance he gets. One more strike and she's calling the dog out--unless she and Rylan admit that the attraction they're feeling is a game-winning grand slam. . .

Pat's Review:

This is a delightful, funny and romantic novel where we meet Beth Avery, a former party planner running from a family disaster and Rylan Cates, a Team Captain for the baseball team the Richmond Rogues.  They are in Old Barefoot William, Florida for spring training and it happens to be Rylan's home town.

Beth is in desperate need of a job, so she's very anxious for this interview to go right. Rylan needs a PA to keep his appointments straight, plan some events and take care of his dogs. Not exactly what she hoped for, but workable. The dogs are a Great Dane called Atlas, a golden retriever named Rue, and two daschunds named Oscar and Nathan.  Atlas is the Alpha Dog and leads the pack, his favorite game is playing dead in the middle of the street. The dogs eat only homemade organic food made from the Organic Canine Cookbook. I have to say, some of the food sounded delicious!

Rylan needs help for eight weeks during spring training, then will be moving back to Richmond for the regular season. He has done several interviews, one person ran from the house when she saw Atlas. He is thrilled when Beth agrees to the job. She's tiny and quirky and the dogs love her. She is not his type at all, so attraction is not an issue......who was he kidding?

We meet some of the players, particularly Halo and Landon, who are pranksters that spend their down time getting in trouble. They both love Beth, so do their best to convince Rylan to take the plunge. It's not too long before he doesn't need any convincing. This is the latest in the Barefoot William's stories and definitely worth a read. It can be read as a stand alone, but the Cates family are so much fun, I'm starting back at Book 1.

4 STARS!
