[Pat's Review]: "Tucked Away"

Tucked Away by Jennie Marts
Publisher: Entangled: Select Contemporary (April 28, 2015)
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Sometimes you find what you need in the most unlikely places...

Charlie Ryan's cheating fiancé left her with a broken heart and even broker bank account. She's hit rock bottom, but everything is about to change. Suddenly, she's inherited a Montana farm named Tucked Away from a grandmother she never knew existed. A fresh start is just what she needs - and no men in her future this time, even if the local vet is as hot as a Montana summer.

Zack Cooper is content with his simple life. Running his veterinary practice and raising his daughter are enough to keep him busy, and he doesn't need a high-maintenance city girl like his ex who plans to sell her grandma's ranch and split faster than a setting sun. So why can't he stop thinking about Charlie and her hot-pink cowboy boots...and the way her eyes say she wants to stay while her lips tease him with plans of leaving?

Just when both start to believe love might be worth the risk...one night will change everything.

Pat's Review:

Charlie Ryan had been let down by too many men in her life. Her Dad when he left them when she was an infant and her fiancé, caught on her couch with his secretary. Out of the blue she hears from a lawyer who tells her she has inherited a ranch in Montana from a grandmother she never knew she had. She had very little money (thanks to her fiancé) was living with her Mom, difficult at best, so she packed up and headed to Broken Falls, Montana. The ranch was called Tucked Away, and it certainly was. Finally reaching the ranch, running out of gas in the driveway, she meets Tommy Lee....a huge bull not happy to see her, who held her prisoner in her very hot car for an hour. Rescued by the foreman, Clay, tall dark and gorgeous, who pronounces her a "City Girl" and not in a good way. Just because she had on a silk blouse, high heel boots and carried a Coach bag and was terrified of mice and killer Bulls?  Her ranch life has begun.

I really enjoyed this story! The beginning is lighthearted and laugh out loud funny. Charlie meets the characters, including the animals, and a very handsome Vet. She even helps deliver a calf....covered in blood and slobber.  Charlie learns more about her Grandmother, Gigi, well loved by the town and has a very strong relationship with a teen-ager from the next ranch. Her name is Sophie and she has amazing skills, learned from Gigi. She comes to love the ranch, and often feels the presence of Gigi in some magical ways. There are undercurrents of mystery surrounding Tucked Away, strange occurrences that get more dangerous. A railroad company that persistently wants her to sell, falling in love with Zack the local veterinarian and more and more about her family.

This is a great read with Cowboys, lots of sweet and not so sweet farm animals and a sizzling love story, add some danger and suspense and you have an excellent story.

4 1/2 STARS!

Ahhh, it does sound adorable, Pat! I love it when there is humor and sweet times in a book.

Love a story where someone inherits something totally unexpected and end up hooking up with a man totally opposite than who cheated on her. Falling in love with a vet just sounds so soothing. Hugs...
