[Pat's Review]: "Give Up the Ghost"

Give Up the Ghost by Kelly Moran
Publisher: Entangled: Covet (May 26, 2015)
Series: Phantoms, 2
Genre: Paranormal Romance

Sometimes the only way to find love is to face death...

Paranormal investigator Kerry Baker has seen it all. But nothing in her work with the Phantoms team prepares her for the most terrifying ghost of all―seeing her doppelganger. Rumored to be a foreshadowing of one's death, the spectre shakes Kerry to the core...sending her into the arms of her best friend and fellow Phantom cast member, Paul Leake, for comfort.
Until a kiss changes everything.
Paul has been in love with Kerry for ages, unwilling to compromise their friendship. As their investigation in a ghost town grows more intense, however, so does the chemistry between Paul and Kerry. With her life in danger and their jobs on the line, giving into their attraction couldn't be a worse idea―and yet they can't bring themselves to stop it. Even if it kills her...

Pat's Review:

This is the second in a series by Ms. Moran focusing on an elite team of ghost hunters called Phantoms. It is a reality TV show, that sometimes feels too real.

The Phantoms are gearing up for a new hunt, this time in Black Canyon, Arizona. A ghost town that used to be a mining town, sounds perfect for the team. They welcome a new team member Cain McClutchen, who has a psychology degree and a tough childhood. Not all are happy with this new member.

Kerry Baker is an empath with the team and loves the work. From day one her best friend, Paul Leake has been protecting her. She suffers from debilitating headaches and a very dysfunctional family. Paul is the historian/researcher for the team and fell in love with Kerry the first time they met. Their contract states there can be no romantic entanglements, so being her best friend is the best he can hope for.

The team is worried about Kerry when she reports sighting a mirror image of herself standing outside her window. She has a doppelgänger, a premonition of danger or harbinger of death. She has a complete medical work-up, with no negative findings, so she is good to go with the team. Everyone is a little on edge, especially since the town is definitely haunted, a series of "accidents" seems to be getting more dangerous, and Kerry has another sighting of her doppelgänger. She becomes more dependent on Paul and realizes it's a lot more than friendship.

This novel can be read as a stand alone, but Ghost Of a Promise is equally enjoyable and just as frightening! This friends to lovers story will warm your heart and scare you silly. I highly recommend it.
