Drinks with a Book – Imperial Stout by Layla Reyne
Are you ready for Imperial Stout, Book 1 of the Trouble Brewing series? Spinning off from Agents Irish and Whiskey, Assistant US Attorney Dominic Price and Assistant Special Agent in Charge Cameron Byrne get their own trilogy, kicking off with an action-packed heist thriller. So as you’re turning pages, what might you drink? With a title like Imperial Stout, you know beer is on the menu and of course some whiskey too!
Coffee – You’ll need it for the marathon reading, and it’ll make you feel like one of the team, all of whom are constantly drinking coffee. Lots of it after the morning shoot-out that kicks of this first book, unless you’re the unfortunate loser at caffeine roulette and get the cup of tea.
Pilsner – Prosecutor by day, brewery owner by night, Nic co-owns Gravity Craft Brewery with former SEAL teammate, Eddie. From their award-winning line-up, the Palo Alto Pils is Nic’s favorite brew. You’ll see Gravity several times in this first installment and more as the series continues.
More Coffee – Because there’s never enough with this crew. Cam in particular is addicted to the single-serve variety (and even better if it’s with a doughnut), Nic would grab a cup anywhere, and Aidan and Jamie love their Blue Bottle. As for Lauren, the bigger and more sugary the better.
Whiskey – Grab a whiskey (or whisky) for after Cam and Nic’s first love scene. Something with a hint of salt and sea, as their first time takes place in a seaside cottage.
Champagne – The book’s action climax occurs during a museum showing of priceless artifacts, the target of an infamous heist crew. Plenty of champagne to go around, but don’t get too distracted that you miss the lady in red. Some AIW favorites make a well-timed appearance.
Imperial Stout – Finish the book off with a pint of Imperial Stout, Cam’s favorite. And he lets Nic know it too, first with a very special thank you at the brewery, and another back at home.
