Whatcha Reading? (September 8th)

Did you catch these gorgeous covers?

Want to quickly see what I read in August? Check out my reading thread for the month!

Still dealing with my grandfather in the rehab center. I won't bore you all with my stress over that again. So. Moving on to the books!

I finished 3 books this week, but one was a Royal Pick and the other two were decent reads, so really I can't complain too much!

What I Read:

Once Upon a Moonlit Night by Elizabeth Hoyt
Narrated by Ashford McNab
3 1/2 Stars

✦ Heiress on the run, asks hero for help
✦ He’s the new Earl (previously sailed, did cartography)
✦ Oops, gotta share a room 😉 And now my father found us so let’s wed!
✦ Quick, quite enjoyable.
✦ And like all of Hoyt's books, it's pretty decent in regards to the sex scenes
✦ But she’s biracial (British/Indian) and I didn’t love how that was treated
✦ Like, exotic is used to describe her at least once. And also how she looks "un-English" and when she dresses in her mother's clothes, complete with kohl liner and whatnot, it's called a "costume" and just UGH, no, that all ruined a lot of my previous happy feelings for this book

Inevitable Conclusions by Christina C. Jones
3 Stars

✦ Dual 1st POV
✦ Longtime friends (often with benefits)
✦ He’s former NFL, now works finance
✦ She’s in theatre (single mom)
✦ Both nearly 40 (36 or so, if I'm recalling correctly)
✦ For the most part, I had a good time, would read the author again, but the romance itself was a bit of a let down

Kindle -- KU Title

Luck of the Draw by Kate Clayborn
4 1/2 Stars
September Royal Pick

✦ Dual 1st POV
✦ Enemies to lovers AND fake engagement / forced proximity (weekends at a cabin)
✦ Grumpy (but mostly: secretly hurting *sobs*) paramedic
✦ Lawyer
✦ CW: Grief, loss of a sibling (due mostly to addiction)
✦ The emotions tho! So many emotions.
✦ Slow burn, great tension and chemistry throughout. Fairly low heat when the sex starts. (But no complaints here, it was still hot)
✦ I just loved watching these two work through their own shit and then work through things to become a oops-this-isn't-at-all-fake couple. So good!

Currently Listening To:

By Her Touch by Adriana Anders

✦ She’s a doctor, specializes in tattoo removal
✦ ATF agent who was deep undercover in an outlaw MC, now hiding out (dealing with PTSD, etc)
✦ Emotions and great tension, GAH

Almost done with this one and I am really enjoying it. I talked a bit about some of the sexy parts, and why I loved them so, in a thread the other night.

Currently Reading:

A Fashionable Indulgence by KJ Charles

✦ Harry is suddenly the lost-heir to a fortune
✦ But he needs to be turned into a proper gentleman first
✦ Enter Julius, who was asked to be Harry's mentor for that

After being gifted a book from a dear Twitter friend the other day, I was reminded that I had this book, which was also a gift (from another Twitter friend a few years ago) still sitting on my TBR. Bad TBQ, bad! Listen, I have no excuse, other than to say TBR Mountain is one hell of a problem, okay? Anyway, decided to pull it out. It's been a while since I read KJ anyway.

So what are YOU currently reading?

Enjoy!

Until Next Time,
