[Kame's Review]: "Westin's Chase"

Westin's Chase by Cristin Harber
Publisher: Mill Creek Press (December 27, 2013)
Series: Titan, 3
Genre: Romantic Suspense

THE MASTER OF EVERYTHING HAS FOUND HIS MATCH
Jared Westin knows his reputation and likes it. He gets the job done. No emotion. No baggage. That’s why his elite ops company, The Titan Group, is better than the best. They complete projects classified as mission impossible.

And then, in walks a woman as tough as she is sexy. His counterpart in every way, should he choose to admit it.

SHE’S NOT WILLING TO LET HER HEART FALL
Ousted undercover ATF agent Lily Chase only answers to “Sugar.” Jared is the only man who can see past her leather-and-lipstick demeanor, and that revelation is terrifying. She was fired for helping Titan on a questionable arrest she should’ve ignored, then partnered with Jared’s rival on an assignment in Afghanistan.

Distance and danger do nothing to change her feelings. When she’s left on the side of a mountain to die, an unexpected ally comes forward, and might open her heart.

THE STAKES COULDN’T BE HIGHER
Saving Sugar isn’t a normal rescue operation. It pits Titan against its rival, Jared against his nemesis. Chasing Sugar’s heart isn’t a simple task, either. She fights him, fights them, always ready to run. When she becomes a pawn in a game of collateral damage, Jared must risk his life to save her—the woman whose bravado and surprising sweetness has given him the one thing he never had. Love.

Kame's Review:

Jared Westin is Titan. He has never had any interest in a woman for longer than a one night stand. That was until he met Sugar. Sugar, is a firearms dealer, she knows her guns; she also won't just stand and let Jared call all the shots. The more shots she calls and questions the more he realizes he can't imagine his life without her.

I was skeptical that Jared would end up being a character I enjoyed. Boy was I wrong. He has some sharp short quips; but he also has a few that melts your toes. The man does have a few soft spots and there are only a few people who can make them appear. Sugar appeared in previous books in the series and she can match Jared quip for quip. She is rather harsh; and readers new to the series who have not read the other books might be put off by her; she is brash and not all that girly but she is the perfect match for Jared. Their chemistry has been sizzling for a few books now and it erupts with volcanic force. If you love sweet love scenes this isn't your book; their attraction is HOT and so are the scenes.

There is very little down time in this plot; it is fast moving and sometimes it got my heart racing! There were peaks and valleys and there was one point where I thought it was wrapping up and then we went up another plot peak! The epilogue was the barest minimum to wrap up some lose ends. I hope to see more of these characters in future Titan books.

*Note* I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley for my honest review; but I also have the box set purchased (it was on sale at an amazing price!). The great thing about the box set - I can now just turn the "virtual" page on my Kindle and start the next part of the Titan series!

4 1/2 STARS!

Thanks for the review, Kame! :) You sold me on grabbing the box set when it was on sale, so I hope to read this series very soon.

Have you read Cristin Harber before? Do you have a favorite book of hers?

What is the last book that kept your heart racing while reading it?

Enjoy!

I got the first one from this series, but haven't started it yet. I like it when an author changes my mind about a character.
