[Kame's Review]: "In Your Corner"

In Your Corner by Sarah Castille
Publisher: Sourcebooks Casablanca (July 1, 2014)
Series: Redemption, 2
Genre: Contemporary Romance

"You have to go. I won't be able to control myself. I've wanted you so bad for so long and after I've been in the cage...I can't think straight." He gives a guttural groan and his fist clenches on my hip.

Primitive. Primal. His need speaks to me. I tighten my grip on his neck and rock up to kiss him. He takes over. His kiss is hard and demanding.

"Mine." His voice is raw, savage and for a moment I truly believe he may lose control.

He rules in the ring

Two years ago, Jake and Amanda were going hot and heavy. But when Jake wanted more, Amanda walked away. Jake immersed himself in mixed martial arts, living life on the edge. But that didn't dull the pain of Amanda's rejection-until a chance encounter throws them together.

A high-powered lawyer, Amanda was a no-strings-attached kind of girl. But two years after her breakup with Jake, she still hasn't found anyone who gets her heart pumping the way he did. And then he shows up in her boardroom, hot as sin and needing help...

But can he rule her heart?

Jake is darker, sexier, and impossible to resist. As their chemistry builds, Amanda's not sure if she can stay in control, or if she's finally willing to let him claim her body and soul.

Kame's Review:

The cover of this book sucked me in; and I adored the blurb - but sadly that is where the love of this book ended. It was written in a single point of view - from the heroine and I just had no feeling for her by the end of the book. Amanda is an junior attorney set on making her parents proud. Secondary characters lauded her for a heart of gold and helping people but I just didn't feel it. I really didn't feel any emotion towards her and actually I could tune her out as I was reading. Jake is a character that intrigued me, but since this was only in Amanda's pov we didn't get any insight into Jake's head. His possessiveness towards Amanda did leap off the page but as I think back I question if he has undying love for her. They did have their fair share of steamy scenes; but only one or two motivated me to reread them.

This is the second book in a series, I did not read book 1 but I was never lost in the plot. There are some secondary characters who intrigue me and I might be tempted to give this series another try.

3 1/2 STARS!

I almost picked this one up for review just to try the author and b/c I've gotten into sports romances lately, but I'm glad I gave it a pass since the heroine was forgettable and she was the one telling the story.

Yeah, I understand all about cover lust..LOL You're right! The blurb sounds really good, and tho. 3./12 stars is really not bad, it's a shame that the heroine wasn't likable, that is almost always a deal breaker for me :(
Thank you for sharing!
