A WITH THIS RING NOVEL

The Doctor Is In . . .

As a single mom and pediatrician, Sabrina Bankhead doesn't have time for romance. All that changes when she reluctantly agrees to take part in a dating show fundraiser for a children's hospital. But once she sets eyes on the journalist hired to cover the show, none of the four contestants stand a chance. If she doesn't choose one of the eligible bachelors, the hospital doesn't raise a cent. What's a lovestruck doc to do?

Investigative journalist Quinn Donnelly is on the mend after an assignment in Afghanistan left him both physically and emotionally scarred. Though he's itching to return overseas and finish his story, he'll have to be content with this fluff piece assignment to cover a local dating show. One-night stands are Quinn's forte-but after he meets Sabrina, he's ready to say yes for the long haul. After years of chasing the next big story, Quinn is starting to wonder if maybe home really can be where the heart is . .

Pat's Review:

Harbin, Wyoming is a small town trying to take care of it's own. They have an excellent pediatrician, Sabrina Bankhead, born and raised in Harbin. Her family is here and she's a single Mom raising her son Noah.  They have no urgent or emergency care for children in town, they have to be transported to Jackson Hole, an hour away, not acceptable to Dr. Bankhead. Her boss has come up with a plan he thinks is perfect. A reality show, featuring the beautiful Sabrina and four bachelor contestants.  The audience will vote for their favorite bachelor after filmed dates with Sabrina, donating money for the medical facility. Sabrina is not at all sure about this plan, she likes to keep herself and her son out of the spotlight.  She's willing to give it a try for the sake of the children.

Quinn Donnelly is a well respected journalist, severely injured by an IED while traveling with troops in Afghanistan.  He is recovered, still in moderate pain,  not ready to head back to Afghanistan, which he is determined to do. His sister has convinced him to be MC for this reality show, so he heads from Boston to Harbin.  Quinn deposits his belongings in the apartment he has rented and heads to Shy Ann's a local bar to meet the producer and Sabrina. The bar is owned by Sabrina's sister, Mellora.  She has a story all her own.  Sabrina and Quinn meet and there is an immediate attraction, each telling themselves it shouldn't happen.  Quinn is going to go back to Afghanistan as soon as his Dr. agrees, Sabrina is very happy being single and raising her son in her home town.  The sexual pull  is too strong, so they agree to a secret no strings affair.

This story was so enjoyable to read. Two honest caring  people get drawn into the whirlpool of this show, the bachelors are quirky and a little needy and one of the staff at the TV station has hated Sabrina since they were in high school.  She does her best to sabotage Sabrina every way she can. Quinn and Sabrina are desperately trying to keep their affair secret, both realizing that this is not a casual no strings relationship. Secrets are revealed, affecting Sabrina and her son and it seems there is no way this relationship can survive.  Have faith, this is a romance and the ending is very satisfying.  There is laughter, families, and most definitely sizzle.  This can be read as a stand alone, but I will definitely be reading Who Wants to Marry a Cowboy?  the first in this series.

4 STARS!
