[Pat's Review]: "No Limits"

No Limits by Lori Foster
Publisher: Harlequin HQN (August 26, 2014)
Series: Ultimate, 1
Genre: Contemporary Romance

A surprise inheritance reunites a mixed martial arts fighter with the woman he's never forgotten in the first in a smoldering new series from New York Times bestselling author Lori Foster…

Cannon Colter is quintessential hero material: chiseled jawline, shredded body—the works. He's also the guy who rescued Yvette Sweeny from kidnappers, only to put an end to her romantic dreams. These days, she's older, smarter, determined to face whatever life throws her way. Even the prospect of sharing a house and business with Cannon.

Cannon knew Yvette wanted him three years ago. But she was young—and some things are worth waiting for. Thrown together by her grandfather's legacy, he realizes how deep Yvette's scars really go, and how much danger lurks in their quiet town. As pent-up desire explodes between them, protecting her becomes the only fight that matters. And he'll break all the rules to do it…

Pat's Review:

This is the first in a new series by Lori Foster, but including characters from her Love Undercover Series. A lot of the action takes place at Rowdy's Bar and Lieutenant Margaret (Margo) Peterson Riske and her husband Dash are back for a brief encounter.

Cannon Coulter was a successful and very well known MMA fighter. He grew up in Warfield, Ohio and his sister still lived there, along with a lot of fighter friends.  He received a message from an attorney that it was necessary for him to meet about an inheritance he had received from Tipton Sweeney, a pawn shop owner and the grandfather of the girl who took his heart and ran away.  Almost four years ago he was part of a horrible event that threatened Tipton and his granddaughter's lives and in the end Cannon's  also. He had kissed her once, and then fear and shame took her away. If nothing else, he was looking forward to seeing Yvette again, all grown up, and seeing where it would take them. Yvette Sweeney had traveled from California for the reading of the will. She was  ashamed she hadn't visited her grandfather more over the last few years, but he had understood. Now she was half owner of his Pawn shop, his house, and all his assets with Cannon. She had worshiped Cannon from afar, best friends with his sister, she got to see him and flirt innocently with him. But on that terrible day, he was there to save her.  The aftermath, the piteous looks, the constant gossip drove her away. But she's back, and wondering if she has another chance. She no longer is a young girl who needs saving, she's an adult, independent and quite capable of taking care of herself.  One look at Cannon, his body, his honesty and gentleness, she was lost.

Someone is threatening Yvette and the pawn shop. Her ex, Heath, is stalking her even flying from California to get closer.  But, small petty crimes are also happening. A small trash fire outside the door of the shop, ugly words painted on her front door, tires slashed, it's getting ugly. With his fighter friends he is trying to get a circle of safety around Yvette, but feeling the victim again is driving her crazy.  The banter between Cannon, and his friends is hysterical and some are quite taken with the women throwing themselves at their feet. But when danger creeps in, these men are solid and formidable.

I enjoy the characters and exciting scenarios in Ms. Foster's books, and this was no exception. Looking forward to the second in the series.

4 STARS!

My review for this one goes live tomorrow :) I loved it and how she's brought it full circle to one of her earlier series--The SBC Fighters. That was one of the first romance series I ever picked up and I just loved it :)
