[Pat's Review]: "Wild About Rachel"

Wild About Rachel by Blaire Edens
Publisher: Entangled: Select (September 22, 2014)
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Wrestling alligators might be easier than falling in love...

Former debutante Rachel Hansworth longs for the days when “alligator” was followed by “pumps” or “handbag.” Broke, Rachel takes the only job she can find: removing nuisance animals from Florida homes. Unfortunately, fighting the attraction to her boss proves more difficult than wrestling a gator.

Army veteran Mark Winters needs help with his business, but he wants Rachel more. He must honor a promise to his dying mother and find a fiancée. A real girlfriend isn’t part of the plan—he’s been there, done that. There’s only one problem: He can’t stop kissing Rachel.

She refuses to be duped by love again, and he won’t let a few hot make-out sessions tear down the walls he’s erected. But she’s all about the big bonus she’ll receive if she helps Mark. They’ll lower their defenses enough to trust each other when a wild animal is involved, but can they pull off the fake fiancée ruse and not be bitten by love?

Pat's Review:

This eBook is a very entertaining friends to lovers story. Rachel and Mark were classmates in high school. He was a classic nerd and she was from a very influential family, oh and a cheerleader!  She is Mark's impossible dream and on the very wrong side of a divorce. Rachel is broke and about to lose the family home thanks to her cheating husband and is desperately in need of a paycheck. She is presently working at the Chat and Chow and trying to ward off the very "handy" owner.  Mark Winters is offering her a job working for his business, Wild Things. It is an animal relocation business, removing pests from homes; ducks, bats, snakes and an occasional alligator are the norm. Mark assures her it is perfectly safe if she follows his directions to a T and her first trial run was a duck very unhappily caught in a fireplace. Rachel thinks she can do this, and Mark is now tall, dark and NOT nerdy. But, he also has a more personal request. His mother is dying and wants to see him in a relationship, heading to marriage, so she can die peacefully knowing he's not alone. Will Rachel be his "pretend fiancé?"

Mark Winters has been attracted to Rachel since high school. He spent several years in the Army and lost the two most precious things in his life in Afghanistan. His fiancé, Vicky and his combat dog Firefly.  All he has left is his Mom, and he wants so much for her to be happy.

Rachel Hamsworth Morrow not only lost her husband, but her Mom and Dad are infuriated because she has caused the scandal of divorce on the family, and is close to losing her Grandmother's home. Agreeing to be Mark's girlfriend / fiancé is the talk of the small town and alienates Rachel and her parents more.

The animal relocating is funny and occasionally frightening. Rachel is falling in love with Mark and his Mom. Life is starting to look up, but there's always that unexpected bump in the road.  A very enjoyable read.
