[Kame's Review]: "Only"

Only by HelenKay Dimon
Publisher: Berkley Trade (October 7, 2014)
Series: Holton Woods, 2
Genre: Contemporary Romance

He’s a man who fixes difficult situations. She’s the one thing he can’t handle—and the one thing he can’t resist…

ONLY

Sebastian Jameson negotiates for high-end clients who need problems taken care of quickly and discreetly. Accustomed to being in control, he’s still reeling from his ex-wife’s decision to write a tell-all about their private life, one that highlighted their bedroom activities. The fallout left Bast’s love life in chaos, making him a magnet for women who thrive on risky fantasies, and a pariah to all others.

Kyra Royer knows all about Bast’s reputation—and is intrigued enough to try to change him into a one-woman guy. But getting him into her bed will be a challenge. He’s known her brother for years, and her brother, with his rough past and sniper abilities, is not a man you cross. Kyra knows Bast thinks she’s off-limits, so she’ll have to get creative to make him hers.

As Kyra turns up the heat, Bast struggles to resist the sexy young woman’s considerable charms. But when Bast’s job turns from tricky to deadly, keeping Kyra nearby might be the only way to keep her alive—even if it means getting closer than he ever intended…

Everything You Need to Know (Kame)

Mercy (#1) -- Kame

Kame's Review:

Kyra has a new job at a gentleman's club. Her brother's boss has asked her to start working for him so that she can help her brother's mood after a bad break-up. Kyra would do anything for her brother, and if that means she can spend more time near Bast and possibly get his attention - even better.

“This can’t happen, Kyra. Nothing can happen between us.”

“I notice none of your excuses for us remaining apart center on attraction.”

“What does that even mean?” But he knew.

“Are you attracted to me?”

“I’m not blind.” A complete fucking dumbass on the verge of doing something especially stupid, but not blind.

I love how spunky Kyra is. She knows her own mind and doesn't shy away from speaking it. She is confident and insightful. Bast was one of my favorite characters in Mercy and he picked up right where he left off in this book. Even though he is a very successful man but his public divorce has done a number on his confidence when it comes to love. He can not fathom why Kyra would even want to spend one night with him much less every night.

The plot revolves around Kyra and Bast, and his requirement to keep their coupling a secret. I purposely used coupling as Bast does not want anything to do with a relationship. There are some HOT and steamy scenes in this book; and I am not just talking about the sex scenes. Kyra and Bast are intense. There is also the continuation of the subplot that revolves around Becca and Eli from Mercy ; and a third subplot of Wade’s love life. Which I must say was a favorite part of the book (I would seriously love a novella just centering around Wade and his romance).  I enjoyed the look at Jarrett and Becca and there were a few scenes where you get a glimpse at their life together; we see that love has allowed Jarrett to transform into a softer side of alpha hero.

This is one sexy read, nothing too suspenseful a great escape read.  It was written with the intention that it could be a stand-alone and gives background information, but for full enjoyment I think you need to read Mercy first. The background is just that but you no way get the emotion involved in the situations or between characters without reading the other first. I am hoping that there is a third book in the works as there is a subplot point that was left unfinished. If there is a third book I hope we get a glimpse back at these great characters as I really don’t want my time with them to be done.
