[Pat's Review]: "Thrill Me"

Thrill Me by Susan Mallery
Publisher: HQN Books (July 28, 2015)
Series: Fool's Gold, 18
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Meet the Mitchell brothers of Fool's Gold, California—five gorgeous men who've left a trail of broken hearts in their wake…

Maya Farlow learned the hard way to depend only on herself, so when she fell too deeply for the bad-boy charms of Del Mitchell, she did the only thing she could—she ran. Stunned, Del left Fool's Gold to make his name and fortune in extreme sports.

Now ten years later, Maya's been hired to promote her hometown's new slogan, The Destination for Romance. The celebrity spokesman is none other than Del, the man she dumped but never forgot. Awkward!

Although Del's not the type to hold a grudge, he's determined to avoid falling a second time for the woman who broke his heart. He's a daredevil, not an idiot. Trouble is, in all his adventures, he never found a rush as exhilarating as Maya's kiss. Maybe risking his heart will prove to be the biggest thrill of all…

Pat's Review:

Maya Farlow is back in Fool's Gold after ten years. She moved back after her network producing job in L.A. was getting too easy.....she needed a change. Mayor Marsha offered her the position of Communication Director to promote their new campaign, Fool's Gold: Destination For Romance. Maya remembers her first romance in Fool's Gold, which has never left her heart, but she ran away from it. Being back floods her with memories. She's producing a video campaign and there is a celebrity spokesperson. The celebrity is Del Mitchell, the love she ran way from.

Del Mitchell is known for his Extreme Sports competitions. He designed specialized equipment, started a company, then sold it for an excellent price. He's back home to visit family and help with the family business for the summer. Agreeing to do the video campaign he was stopped in his tracks when he saw Maya. The last time he saw her she was eighteen, engaged to marry him, and then she was gone. He never forgot her. Both Maya and Del are determined not to become "involved," but......Fool's Gold has a reputation.....

I enjoyed this story and the characters of Fool's Gold, especially Eddie and Gladys. I am afraid that these stories are becoming a little formulaic and don't grab my attention as they used to. For me, they're enjoyable but somewhat predictable.

3 1/2 STARS!

Thanks for the review, Pat!

Do you have a series/author that you enjoy visiting, even when you know exactly what to expect from the book (that is, it's predictable)? I think we all do, so I'm curious to know what book is that way for you.

Enjoy!
