Whatcha Reading? (21)

A new Saturday post where you can share with us what you are currently (or just finished) reading and we will share our brief thoughts on books that we read during the previous week but will not be reviewing.

November 15th - 21st:

TBQ:

-- Lay It Down by Cara McKenna --

I've had this one in my pile for more than a year. (It was an ARC copy, too. Oops) It was a pretty good read. McKenna always has a very interesting writing voice and stories. And it was pretty hot at times, but also had a touch of suspense, too. I wanted to know more about the hero -- and his family's -- special talents though, and I'm hoping it comes up in future books. I'll come back to this series when I get a chance. Between 3 1/2 and 4 Stars

Favorite quote:

“Casey tucked the barrel at the small of his back and arranged his shirt.

Vince shook his head. “You gotta get a holster. That is so fucking ghetto.”

“No way—I like how it feels back there.” Casey grabbed his jacket and followed Vince outside. “Wait. That came out wrong.”

-- Desperately Seeking Shapeshifter by Jessica Sims --

Another one I've had in my pile for a long time (though I bought it myself). I really liked it, though I must admit I think the sex scenes were probably my favorite part. Because growly virgin were-bear hero? Yes, please. :D Those scenes were not only fun but very hot. Just saying. Overall, a quick read, I'll return to this series, too, when I have time. Between 3 1/2 and 4 Stars.
