Whatcha Reading? (22)

A new Saturday post where you can share with us what you are currently (or just finished) reading and we will share our brief thoughts on books that we read during the previous week but will not be reviewing.

November 22nd - 28th:

TBQ:

-- Three Nights Before Christmas by Kat Latham --

A very fun, sexy holiday read. I highlighted so many parts of this book, it's hard to pick one to share below. Check back next week for my full review, too! 4 1/2 STARS

"Hate to argue, but you're definitely the one making it hard."

-- Moonglow by Kristen Callihan --

I forgot how great this series is. I read it out of order -- book 1 when it first released, but then I skipped to book 4, and now I'm coming back to book 2 . . . Oops. Anyway, I listened to this on audio, and the narrator did a great job with it, and Callihan, as always, did a wonderful job writing it. Between 4 and 4 1/2 Stars!

-- Secrets of a Summer Night by Lisa Kleypas --

This is a reread for me. I'm participating in a buddy read FB group for the series. I'm glad that I pulled this one out again, I forgot how enjoyable Kleypas is. I must say, I didn't love it *as* much as I did when I first read it years ago, but I think that's common when you go back to an old favorite. Before, I gave it 5 stars. Now, I've marked it down to 4. Still a great book, of course, that hasn't changed! I also highlighted quite a lot of this book, too. 4 Stars

Favorite quote:

I'm coming to believe that there are two kinds of people . . . those who choose to be masters of their own fate and those who wait in chairs while others dance. I would rather be one of the former than the latter.

-- Beyond the Surface by Felice Stevens --

This book was okay for me. Nothing really special, but nothing that I truly hated, either. I was intrigued by the summary, and the fact that it was $0.99 when I grabbed it last week. I can't say I regret reading it, by any means, but I'm not itching to read more from this author, at least not right away. 3 Stars
