After being married for just six months, Sophie's journalist husband, Mark, was captured by a Syrian rebel group and held for more than two years. Now that he has finally returned home, he's like a different person. She hardly knows him anymore, and he keeps pulling away from her.

Kame's Review:

Mark and Sophie were not married long when he was kidnapped in the Middle East. Two years later Sophie is living in Winter Park helping her grandfather with his bookstore when she receives news Mark has been rescued.

The last book of this series is one that shows us how we must adapt in marriage. My heart broke for Sophie - I can't imagine living your life never knowing if your husband will ever come home. I kept on thinking Sophie should do X or respond a certain way , but then I remembered she and Mark hadn't been married long when he was kidnapped. When he returned she didn't have years of history to pull from - they might not have even had a huge fight yet.

Mark was very much how I imagined someone coming home years after a kidnapping would be. I could understand his lack of emotion.  I could understand his desire to be normal again.

This is not a hearts and flowers going to make your cheeks hurt from smiling Christmas romance. This is a working romance - where the characters fight for love. While not typical of holiday books this plot tied in with the series.

I am happy I read it - it was fun to read a series which highlighted characters of faith but in a series that is more mainstream than Christian Fiction.
