Whatcha Reading? (50)

A new Saturday post where you can share with us what you are currently (or just finished) reading and I will share my brief thoughts on books that I read during the previous week.

June 5th - 11th:

TBQ:

-- Tough Luck Hero by Maisey Yates --

Another charming, fun and sexy read from Yates. Second time read Yate and I enjoyed this one just as much as the last. All the highlights on my Kindle helps to prove that, too. :) Full review on June 17th. 4 Stars

Favorite quote:

"And you don't think they're going to talk about you standing out here looking at me like I'm a particularly distasteful vegetable you just found on your plate?"

"Yes," he said, a smile curving his lips upward. "You, Lydia Carpenter, are my broccoli."

"I guess that makes you my peaches."

"Who doesn't like peaches? That's ridiculous."

"I don't." She headed down the stairs, digging in her purse for her keys. "It isn't ridiculous to dislike something."

"I mean, you dislike something sweet, delicious, and almost universally enjoyed by the rest of the world. But sure."

-- Single Wolf Female by Jessica Sims --

I actually picked this one up because I had just finished Tough Luck Hero early Monday morning, and the book I had pre-ordered was releasing the next day. I couldn't NOT read something all day Monday, but I didn't want a full length novel, so I did a quick search of my Kindle for a novella I had, found this one and quickly read it. I quite liked it; it is quick, only a little over 100 pages I believe, but it's fun, as all of Sims/Claire's books are, and entertaining and it was just what I needed -- both to recharge between books and to pass the time until my other book arrived on my Kindle. :)

It can be read as a standalone; I've only read two books in this series, neither in order. I'll still be back for more in this series, both novella and novel.  3 1/2 STARS

-- Idol by Kristen Callihan --

!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, seriously. I finished this Wednesday evening after pouncing on it Tuesday. It's now Saturday and I'm STILL currently on the BEST POST BOOK HIGH/HANGOVER from this book. *happy sigh* I'm going to do a full review on June 14th, so check back then for more! 5 STARS

-- How Not to Fall by Emily Foster --

Definitely sexy, and focused fairly heavily on the heroine's exploration of her sexuality (no complaints here). A bit of a mind-fuck from Charles and the monsters in his past, especially as it keeps him from opening up to Annie. Spoiler/warning: They're not together at the end of the book, but sounds like they will be in the sequel.

I really liked this book, though I had some issues getting into the voice style at first, and sometimes found Annie and Charles both a bit annoying. Still, I'll be back for the next part of their story because I have to know how things work out between them.

I may write up a more complete review in the next two weeks; I'm not sure yet. It depends on if the review-juice flows, really. Sometimes, even with good books, the mojo just isn't there, you know?
