[Pat's Review]: "My Song For You"

My Song For You by Stina Lindenblatt
Publisher: Loveswept (September 6, 2016)
Series: Pushing Limits, 2
Genre: Contemporary Romance

In a poignant romance from the author of This One Moment (“Hot, intense, and filled with emotion.”—Rachel Harris), the rock stars of Pushing Limits have hit the big time. But fame gets tough when love presents a fork in the road.

At twenty-one, Jared Leigh had been prepared to give up the life of a touring musician to be a father after getting his girlfriend pregnant. When she told him that she’d gotten an abortion, Jared was devastated. Now at least he has the groupies to keep him company—until a blast from the past rocks his world.

Callie Talbert hasn’t seen her sister’s ex since high school. But after Callie bumps into Jared while she’s grocery shopping with four-year-old Logan, there’s a spark that wasn’t there before. Jared quickly realizes that her deaf “son” is the same age his own child would have been. When Jared demands to know more about Logan, Callie panics. There are things she just can’t tell him. Besides, Jared’s a bad-boy rocker, not a dependable father figure. He’ll move on to his next gig soon enough . . . right?

Trouble is, Jared refuses to be pushed away, and the more quality time he spends with Logan, the more he’s captivated by the woman Callie has become. When the truth is revealed, Jared only hopes that the three of them have what it takes to become a real family.

Pat's Review:

This is a sweet contemporary romance that will pull at your heart and bring tears to your eyes. But inevitably it will make you smile! It is written in first person with chapters from each character, so which helps you get inside their minds.

Jared Leigh grew up in L.A. and has almost accomplished his dream. He lives, eats, and breathes music, and the band he started with a fellow artist is finally hitting the charts. The band is called Pushing Limits and Jared is a guitarist and song writer. They have been traveling for a while, and are home in LA to polish up their next album before they go on the road again. Jared's family is close by, and he enjoys some down time with them. After a late practice he's hitting a food market to get some dinner, and sees a beautiful woman with a young boy. Looking closer, he sees it is the younger sister of his girlfriend back in high school. Jared and Alexis had a difficult break up and he hasn't seen her or her family for years. Callie is no longer the awkward little girl he remembers, she is quite stunning.

Callie Talbert is doing some last minute grocery shopping when she sees Jared walking toward them. Her four-year-old son, Logan, is deaf but has a cochlear implant and does sign language and is learning to speak sentences. Callie is keeping a secret she vowed to her sister she would never tell. But facing Jared so unexpectedly, is shaking her to the core. Logan is immediately fascinated with Jared and invites him to a birthday party at their home for a neighbor. Callie somewhat reluctantly agrees, and the thing she has most dreaded happening is now real: Jared Leigh is back in their lives.

The characters are fun, likable and add to the story. The author does an excellent job making us feel what Callie is going through and the loneliness she fears. She is strong, but is very afraid of a life without Logan and now....Jared.
