Pat's Review: Only for You

Only for You by Melissa Foster
Publisher: Montlake Romance (December 5, 2017)
Series: Sugar Lake, 2
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Love only works when your heart is in the right place. Hers could be right next door…

Single mom Bridgette Dalton doesn’t have time to stop and smell the roses—not even in her own flower shop. But that doesn’t mean she hasn’t noticed Bodhi Booker. Her ruggedly handsome next-door neighbor would be the perfect candidate for a no-strings fling. Having loved and lost, Bridgette’s not ready to hand over her heart…but she could use a distraction.

Bodhi has one rule: never leave anyone behind. As a special operative, he knows that each new mission is more dangerous than the last. He’s never made a promise of forever to a woman, not even to the beautiful widow who has him tied in knots. And if there were anyone who could tempt him into putting down roots, it would be Bridgette and her adorable son.

But as his next deployment nears, they make a startling discovery. Their passion, meant only for the here and now, might already be blossoming into something more…

Pat's Review:

This is the second story in the Sugar Lake Series and it's a sexy, fun read.

Set in the town of Sweetwater, New York, Bridgette Dalton is a florist shop owner and shares space with her sister Willow’s bakery. Bridgette is a widow and has a son, Louie. Her family -- Roxie, her mom and her other sister Piper -- is always there for her, and right now they’re trying to convince her to start living again. It just so happens she has a new neighbor, Bohdi Booker who appears to be a classic bad boy. His Great Dane, Dahlia, decided that Bridgette’s take-out Chinese food smelled really good, and he nearly took down Bridgette to get to it. Bohdi apologizes, and while it's definitely not love at first sight, they both feel a spark of attraction.

Bohdi is a covert ops rescue specialist with a private firm called Darkbird. He spent years in the military and this is now his dream job. He is in Sweetwater for two weeks to renovate a home he bought for his mom and then on to more assignments. Having been in the military, he has seen hearts broken and lives ruined when someone doesn’t make it home. He’s not sure if it’s attraction or lust he feels, but he wants to get to know her better. Dahlia heartily agrees. After a mind-bending kiss, they decide they might not do “ever after” but they could certainly work with “right now”. At least they hope so.

The characters are wonderful, the love story hot, and there’s plenty of laughs. Dahlia and Louie will steal your heart. This can be read as a stand alone, but I think the first book in the series looks equally enjoyable.

4 STARS!
