[Musing Maddie's Review]: "Saving Forever"

Saving Forever by Jasinda Wilder
Publisher: Jasinda Wilder (February 14, 2014)
Series: The Ever Trilogy, 3
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Ever and Cade,

Sorry I vanished like I did. I’m not sure I can even explain things. I don’t know when I’ll be back. IF I’ll be back. I’m not sure of anything, except that I love you, Ever. You’re my twin, my best friend, and leaving you was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I know you don’t understand. Maybe you never will. I hope you don’t, honestly. It would be easier that way. That’s cowardly, I’m sure.

Cade, take care of her. Love her, the way she deserves. The way you always have, for forever and always.

If I could ask you anything, it’s that you remember me as I was, and forget me as I am.

I’m sorry, and goodbye, and I love you.

Eden

Musing Maddie's Review:

There are very few authors who can capture the complexity of a person's journey through grief, loss, hope and eventual love. Jasinda Wilder has proven once again that she can. Saving Forever was a surprising, yet moving conclusion to The Ever Trilogy. I was timid going in, not sure whether part three would be as agonising as the first two books. I did cry, as expected.

Wilder's ability to express in words the magnitude of feelings that people experience, caused the story to be remarkably stirring, completely captivating and definitely compelling. You had to read to the end.

One character who was a very welcome addition to the cast, was Carter Haven. In fact, his whole family actually. I loved them. The openness. The warmth. They leant welcome light, love and laughter to a fairly dark and sad landscape in Eden's life, and certainly helped me understand where this wonderful, stunning Hero had come from. I loved Carter. Dearly.

I particularly enjoyed the continued theme of letter writing as a method of communication. It was an integral element well woven throughout the series, enabling further depth and discovery. Hearts were laid bare. Emotions on display. Chilling. Heart-rending. Poignant.

Wilder once again provided enough sizzle between Carter and Eden to ensure the lasciviousness and love was believable and, of course, enjoyable. Thank you Mrs Wilder!

For some, the conclusion may not be what they would expect from the darkness revealed in the second book. However, to me, it made sense. Evie, in particular, had a heart that few could probably fathom. Such is the skill of Wilder's writing to provide enough time inside a character's head, so that insight was gained to understand behavior.

So, overall, this is not a series for those who enjoy light-hearted fun, but is a series that will be thought-provoking, disturbing, distressing, yet compelling and persuasive. Grab your tissues. You will need them.

Meet Musing Maddie:

Musing Maddie is an avid reader, who mainly devours all things romance. She loves series, but only when the story warrants a few books rather than one. A strong, intelligent female with a bit of sass and wit is the preferred heroine in the books she reads, and some sizzle between the sheets is welcome too. Well, ok...more than welcome! Well, not just between the sheets is just fine too! She’s from Down Under, so her humor is on the crazy side. Captivating storylines, with well developed plot and yes, hot, hunky Heroes, is definitely a preference, but she loves it when the characters are damaged, and their story brings hope and restoration. Yes please to HEAs!
