[Pat's Review]: "Barbara's Plea"

Barbara's Plea by Stacy Eaton
Publisher: Nitewolf Novels (April 10, 2015)
Genre: Chick Lit/Contemporary Romance

Barbara lives in constant fear of her husband. She finally summons the courage to leave with their young daughter, Allie, but dreads the moment her husband learns of their escape. In his desire to control them and bend them to his will, he will leave no stone unturned to punish them--especially Barbara.

Grey’s future seems bleak, especially the day he is fired, but everything begins to turn around the moment he absently sinks down on a bench occupied by wealthy Gloria Withers. Gloria sees something in him that no one else bothers to notice and, within moments, a friendship is sparked that will withstand many trials.

When Barbara makes good her escape and arrives on the doorstep of her grandmother, Gloria, whom she hasn't seen for years, Barbara is greeted instead by Grey. It doesn't take long for a different kind of spark to fly as Barbara takes up residence in the Withers mansion.

When Grey falls inexorably in love with not only Barbara, but also her daughter Allie, he vows to do everything he can to protect them from her husband who is out for revenge.

Pat's Review:

This novel tells us the story of two people who found love after a devastating incident in their lives. Grey Bloodstone after losing the two people that kept his life worth living, was buried under huge medical bills he couldn't seem to make a dent in. Barbara on the run from a monster who threatened her life and the life of her baby, disappears and goes to the one person she know's will protect them, her grandmother.

Gloria Withers is the connection in these two lost souls lives. A chance meeting with Grey Bloodstone on a particularly trying day for them both, gives Grey a chance to get his life back doing the work he loves making beautiful furniture for a project of Gloria's. Since it involves quite a bit of time consuming labor, he moves into an apartment over her deceased husband's wood working studio. Grey eats meals in the estate house with Gloria and works very hard on her project. He feels that his life finally has a purpose.

Late one night, Barbara and Allie her 16 month old child appear at Gloria's door.  Wearing the evidence of her abuse on her face, Grey immediately wants to help Gloria keep her and her daughter Allie safe. Allie squeezes into his heart after spending just a short time with her. Slowly Barb begins to trust and look to the future of a life with Grey. But her past reaches her and threatens her future and the fear and panic returns.

This is an amazing novel with heartrending characters, a beautiful love story and an adorable little girl.  We meet a  generous loving older woman who finds joy in helping family and even strangers.  I couldn't put this novel down, and highly recommend it!
