[Kame's Review]: "Crashed"

Crashed by Sherilee Gray
Publisher: Entangled: Indulgence (July 14, 2015)
Series: Axle Alley Vipers, 1
Genre: Contemporary Romance

She swore never to trust him again...

Fiery mechanic Alexandra Franco should have known better. Years ago, her best friends' older brother took her virginity and broke her heart-or rather, doused it with gasoline, lit a match, and then walked away. And Alex definitely should not have indulged in another hot night with him after the fact. He's not the same boy she fell for, and she sure as hell doesn't want anything to do with the wealthy, ruthless man he's become.

Walking away from Alex was the biggest mistake of Deacon West's life. She belongs with him, and if getting her back means playing dirty, so be it. If she'll grant him a three-month, no-strings affair, he won't sell the building Alex and his sisters use for their auto repair business. Hell, he'll even sign it over to them. But will Alex ever entrust her heart to him again, or are they destined to crash and burn?

Kame's Review:

Alex is bestfriend and business partner with Deacon's two sisters.  Deacon can't remember a time when he hasn't wanted Alex in his life. A life choice didn't make that possible, but he is tired of not having Alex in his life and in his bed, so he offers her a deal she can't refuse.

I am not a fan of "blackmail" romance or any other romance plot that has the hero holding something over the heroine so that she will be with him. Most of the time I won't even start the book if I know that is part of the plot.

Why did I continue when the "deal" was made in first chapter - Alex.

Alex runs a restoration garage with Deacon's two sisters. I loved the idea of an unconventional career for the heroine. She is dedicated to the only two women who have ever treated her as "family" her whole life. I love that she didn't try to change so that she could be with the man she always loved - Deacon. Deacon had some moments when I just thought he was adorable, but then he would do something to remind Alex of their deal.

The challenge/conflict that threatens Deacon's quest to have the woman he loves was loosely threaded in the story. For a man who was so accomplished at business I felt his approach to this conflict (even before his deal with Alex) did not sit well with me - it didn't seem true to the type of man he claimed to be - very naïve.

As I said Alex and the garage kept me reading and it is what will have me looking out for Rusty and Piper's books too.

3 1/2 STARS!
