This was a quick read for me to start off the year with, and I quite enjoyed it. Very sexy, and who can resist a bearded, tattooed hero? There's some angst because of the heroine's past, and there's a bit of a surprise 3/4 through the book in regards to the hero's past. There's some mild BDSM elements in the book, too, but nothing terribly explicit or kinky.

All in all, I liked it and I will continue to read Ryan's books. Plus, look at her covers! :D  3 STARS

-- Give Yourself Away by Barbara Elsborg --


Definitely not a read for the faint of heart; the backstory for these two men, Caleb in particular, is horrible. Still, I'm a fan of Elsborg's writing, and once again she delivers an emotional, sexy, and at times light and fun, read.

-- Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake by Sarah MacLean --


A lovely read. I did quite enjoy following Callie on her journey to taking ownership of her life and where it was going. I'm all for the heroine who no longer wishes to be passive in her own life. It's always something I can relate to. 3 STARS

So why the "low" rating? Honestly, there's no real reason behind it. I'm simply starting to think more carefully about my ratings. For me, a 3 star read is a decent book, but one that I probably will not take the time to reread (such as this one), whereas I feel that a 4 star book is one I really liked and may strongly consider revisiting. And of course a 4 1/2 or 5 star book is one that I would love to revisit again and again.
