[Pat's Review]: "Romancing the Ranger"

Romancing the Ranger by Jennie Marts
Publisher: Entangled: Lovestruck (March 14, 2016)
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Reese Hudson meant to destroy mementos from her last failed relationship, not burn down an outhouse and incur the wrath of a sexy park ranger. When the judge rejects her offer to pay for the structure and sentences her to rebuild it—with the hot ranger supervising—she embraces the challenge to take control of her life.

Park ranger Wade Baker wants nothing to do with the rich city girl, no matter how tempting he finds her lush curves. She’s too much like his ex-fiancĂ©e, and if he’s learned anything, it’s that women like Reese don’t fit into his world. And he sure as hell wants no part of her big city life.

Reese may not know a hammer from a screwdriver, but she’s working hard to prove she’s not just some pampered princess to be toyed with. And damn it if Wade doesn’t admire her tenacious spirit. If only they got along half as well outside the bedroom as they do in it, there might be a chance for them after all…

Pat's Review:

This novel is a fun look at the city girl meets country boy story. It's a laugh out load, very romantic with some heat, and an all around very enjoyable read.

Reese Hudson, financial advisor, works for her fathers business. She just broke up with her boyfriend Brock. He hated her dog, corrected how she dressed, ordered for her in restaurants, and the final straw....never spelled her name right! She is escaping to her favorite place, the waterfall in Cotton Creek, with her faithful companion Bagel, a very fat Pug. She stops at a rest area and contemplates her life, deciding to burn her memories with her ex. Problem is, the burn gets a little out of control. Luckily a park ranger sees the fire and immediately starts fighting it and calls for help. Bagel, frightened, jumps out of the car and is hurt. Things go downhill from there......next thing Reese knows, she is in jail and her dog is missing.

Wade Baker has lived in Cotton Creek all his life. He loves his work as a Park Ranger and lives close to his grandmother Amelia and her B & B. He is still trying to get out of debt from his former fiancé pretty much wiping him out. He's a little wary of women right now. He is infuriated when Reese apologizes but thinks she can solve things by waving money around. She is arrested. Reese's sentence is shocking to both her and Wade. She must stay in Cotton Creek for two weeks community service.....rebuilding the outhouse she burned down! Wade will be her supervisor.

Somehow Reese and Wade break down the walls between them. The fact that Wade rescued her from drowning after fainting in the tub, takes care of Bagel when he is hurt, even making a wagon comfortable for him to rest in. Wade finds there is more to Reese than her money.  Their attraction deepens, but so do outside influences, trying to tear them apart.

I look forward to reading Ms. Marts stories. There is always endearing characters, laughter and romance.
