Pat's Review:

I have enjoyed all three books in this series, and recommend each one. They can be read as stand alones, but are so much more enjoyable when you start from the beginning.

Gideon Marshall, chief of police for the town of McKay's Treasure, is in love. He has been for 20 years. Moira (Mac) McKay shared that love with all her heart. After a tragic accident that killed her parents she couldn't get past the guilt of a last minute argument with her Mom. She felt she didn't deserve his love. She also now carried the responsibility of raising her siblings, and her father's company. Mac broke up with him and shattered both their hearts. Gideon joined the military and his trips to McKay's Treasure were few and far between. It was too hard for him. Finally after wandering for a while, he ended up home and chief of police. Every encounter with her is painful......he has to be done. He is leaving as soon he can.

A long history of "hidden treasure" has surrounded McKay's Folly. Stories of pirates and feuds and broken promises. It seems those rumors are making a comeback, and Moira is attacked in her own yard, nearly strangled. When word reaches Gideon, he doesn't hesitate -- he has to protect her. Still being her feisty self, I did want to shake her a little to wake her up. After breaking down when she hears he is moving, she finally realizes what she has the potential of losing. She begs Gideon for one last chance, and he falls under her spell. But this time it's working. Meanwhile a series of dangerous "accidents" start occurring and Gideon is overwhelmed with suspects and alibis. Even Moira's ex-husband is involved.

The suspense will make your heart pound, as well as the very sexy moments with Gideon and Mac. I wasn't sure "who dun it" till the very end! A very enjoyable read.

4 1/2 STARS!
