Whatcha Reading? (63)

A new Saturday post where you can share with us what you are currently (or just finished) reading and I will share my brief thoughts on books that I read during the previous week.

-- Marrying Winterborne by Lisa Kleypas -- [Library ebook]

I truly enjoyed reading this one, and returning to Kleypas's historicals. But this one also felt a bit uneven for me. I really loved some parts of it -- especially in the beginning -- but found other parts to be slow and not *as* attention grabbing. As a sidenote, I was a bit confused by how everyone was related -- Helen and her sisters, I got, but wasn't as sure about Kathleen, Devon and West. Admittedly, I didn't read the first book in this series, so maybe that would have helped, but IDK. I rolled my eyes and wanted to smack Helen when she decided to keep everything from Rhys and agree to her horrible father's blackmail. Luckily that was taken care of in the end (though perhaps a bit too quickly), but I still gave Helen side eye for that part.

I highlighted quite a few things -- a lot of sweet moments and lines, which Kleypas always does well, a few funny moments, etc. I'm still a bit in awe over the lavish world that Rhys built with his empire, by the way! :) I'm definitely looking forward to Pandora/Gabriel's story next year. But I really, reaaaally hope that Dr. Garrett gets her own book. Maybe with Ransom...? Between 3 1/2 and 4 Stars
