A sizzling story of a woman who risks her life and her heart to find a wealthy man’s missing sister — the first novel in a sexy new romantic suspense series from #1 New York Times bestselling author Maya Banks.

When Caleb Devereaux's younger sister is kidnapped, this scion of a powerful and wealthy family turns to an unlikely source for help: a beautiful and sensitive woman with a gift for finding answers others cannot.

While Ramie can connect to victims and locate them by feeling their pain, her ability comes with a price. Every time she uses it, it costs her a piece of herself. Helping the infuriatingly attractive and impatient Caleb successfully find his sister nearly destroys her. Even though his sexual intensity draws her like a magnet, she needs to get as far away from him as she can.

Deeply remorseful for the pain he’s caused, Caleb is determined to make things right. But just when he thinks Ramie's vanished forever, she reappears. She’s in trouble and she needs his help. Now, Caleb will risk everything to protect her — including his heart....

Pat's Review:

I originally gave this book a five star review, but after reading it I realized this was a re-issue. No mention anywhere that it was not new. I have no problem with re-issues, I just like to know when I'm spending money on what I thought was a new series.

The Deveraux brothers are terrified, angry and frustrated. Their sister Tori has been abducted and they have no where to turn; but Caleb, the oldest and head of their multi-million dollar business knows exactly what he needs to do. He has spent a lot of money searching for the person he knows can help. But she doesn't want to be found. Since his sister's life is at stake, he doesn't care--he must find her in order to find his sister.

Ramie St. Claire has existed by herself since she was a child growing up in the foster care system, rejected for her weird "powers." Now a grown woman, with a reputation of finding lost people, she just wants to be left alone. No one knows the pain, fear and devastation she suffers every time she opens her mind to evil. When confronted by Caleb, she tries to get him to go away, and he pushes a scarf owned by his sister into her hands. The reaction it causes comes close to breaking him. She is witnessing and experiencing every evil done to this women she doesn't know. But she knows where Tori is. Caleb is both thrilled to find his sister and heartbroken at the damage he has caused. There is a long road to recovery for his sister, and Beau, Quinn and Caleb set up a security team, the best of the best, to protect her and others who need assistance. Caleb never forgot Ramie, and the guilt never goes away. Suddenly a year later she has contacted him for help. Everything  he owns will be utilized to keep her safe. Their growing feelings for each other make it even more critical.

This novel is a beautiful love story surrounded by evil and pain. It is terrifying, very suspenseful and I couldn't put it down.

Thanks for the review, Pat! I hate when that happens; I do wish publisher made it more clear when a book is a reprint. :/

Enjoy!
