Pat's Review:

Ms. Scott is an auto-buy for me. After I Fall is going to the top of my list of favorite reads for 2017 already. This story felt different to me from the others in the series. I can't pinpoint what made me feel that way, but it did. Fair warning: PTSD, abuse, and the mind games parents can play on their children are explored in this captivating romance.

Eli Winter, a West Point grad and former Army officer, has opened a bar called The Pint to reach out to vets like himself who need a place to relax and unwind, "trying to escape the sins of war". His staff is also vets: Kelsey, who won't talk about her experiences, and Deacon, who is his rock. Eli and Deacon look out for Kelsey and her wild ways. Eli is doing his best to escape the horror of a tragedy in Iraq that nearly broke him. But it is ingrained in his DNA to try and help someone hurting or in need.

Parker Hauser is known as "a poor little rich girl" and has tried to live up to her parents' expectations all her life. After receiving a disgusting photo from a family friend who was supposed to be her mentor for a marketing internship, she decides to step out of the box. The Pint needs an intern and Parker convinced Eli it should be her (she had Kelsey on her side already, as Kelsey had invited her to apply). Parker is engaged to a man, of course picked by her parents, and having second thoughts. More so when his attention gets a little rough.

She is instantly attracted to Eli, and he admires and is attracted by her desire for a chance to escape the life expected of her. Together they are combustible.

I can't say enough good things about this story. Ms. Scott always shows us the highs and lows of warriors returning from hell, and the difficulties of being "home."  Add in love and sizzle and this a five star for me.  Highly recommend After I Fall and the previous books in the series.

5 STARS!
