Tattered by Devney Perry
Publisher: Devney Perry (June 19th, 2018)
Series: Lark Cove Series, 1
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Thea Landry has always known her place in modern-day society. It’s somewhere just above the trash can her mother dumped her in as a newborn but below the class where much comes easy. With her tattered shoes and bargain-bin clothes, her life has never been full of glamour.

So when a rich and charismatic man takes interest, she doesn’t fool herself into thinking their encounter is anything more than a one-night stand. Months later, she’s kicking herself for not getting his phone number. Or his last name. She’s given up hope of seeing him ever again.

Until one day, years later, Logan Kendrick waltzes into her life once more and turns everything she’s built upside down. This time around, she won’t make the same mistake. She’s going to fight to keep him in her life—not for herself.

But for their daughter.

Pat's Review:

As always when reading Ms. Perry’s books, I felt like I was on an emotional roller coaster with Tattered, and what a ride it was!

Thea Landry had a very difficult childhood. She was found tossed into a trash can mere hours after her birth, addicted to drugs. If not for the love and generosity of one woman, who knows where she would be now. Hazel Rhodes is that woman and is still very important in her life. Six years ago, living and working in New York as a bartender in a hotel bar,she met a man named Logan, and had the most amazing night of her life. No last name, no contact info exchanged -- which Thea regrets to this day. Now six years later she has an amazing, beautiful tomboy daughter named Charlie, and lives in Lark Cove, Montana with Hazel (known as Gran to Charlie). She runs Hazel’s bar and enjoys small town life, especially as it provides her with the ability to dabble in her favorite hobby as an artist.

Logan Kendrick, managing partner of his law firm in New York and chairman of the board for the Kendrick Foundation is in Montana to check out a youth camp as an addition to the Foundation's roster. It was a wonderful site and would benefit greatly from the input of money from the foundation. Celebrating after the purchase, he and his CEO head to a local bar for drinks and dinner. There he is shocked to see Thea, who he actually did try to find after their night together. Not only does he find Thea, but an adorable six year old girl he knows is his child, as she has his eyes and crooked pinkie finger. He falls in love immediately. But far bigger obstacles are in store for Thea and Logan. She refuses to leave Montana, he has to be in New York. He spends a week getting to know Thea and Charlie and realizes he never stopped caring for Thea, and wants to be a part of Charlie’s life. But demands on his time, his family’s disapproval, and not wanting a long distance relationship may ruin their chances of happily ever after.

It took me a little while to warm up to Logan, but Charlie captured my heart from the beginning. Thank you to the publisher and Ms. Perry for the opportunity to read and review this very entertaining story.
