[Review]: "Demon Seed"

Demon Seed by Jianne Carlo
Publisher: Loose Id LLC (January 9, 2012)
Series: Hades Squad, 4
Genre: Contemporary Romance/Erotica

“You speak English flawlessly.” With a hint of an Irish accent. Intriguing.
“Gracias. Languages are easy. Not like the physics.”
What a piss-assed conversation to be having in the middle of the ocean with a woman he’d just rescued from certain gang rape, being shot, and who knew what else. A curvy, luscious female whose virginity he’d just taken in front of four armed men. Talk about the best laid plans backfiring, Demon’s carefully plotted schemeto capture the man who abused him, Pedro Nunez aka The Smiling Killer, was not off to a good start.
“What’s your name?”
“Jacinta Nunez.”
Jacinta claims to have lived her whole life in a cloistered convent. Claims she’s an orphan. Claims she’s only lived in the outside world for fifty-seven days. Yet she’s the mirror image of Pedro’s sister, Rosa.
The sister Pedro murdered fifty-seven days ago.
There are no coincidences in life. Not for a SEAL.
Is Jacinta Pedro’s ultimate revenge on Demon?

My Review:
Sexy Navy SEAL hero? Check. Heroine who refuses to sit and let the hero take control? Check. Plenty of sexy down time between the two? Hell yeah!

Demon Seed was my first foray into Jianne Carlo's work, and I wasn't disappointed! Carlo writes one heck of a steamy novel, one filled with passion and action. I look forward to reading more of her work in the future. If the chemistry between Demon and Jacinta is any indication, Carlo has a talent!

My only complaints about the book are fairly small. For most of the book, I felt like I was being rushed through the story, and at times it seemed like pieces were missing—or else the high pace left me so dizzy I blacked out and missed something. :) Also, it seemed like a few times the issues that came up were worked out far too quickly and easily.

And while I did fall for Demon a bit, and was glad to see him get his HEA with Jacinta, I'm still not comfortable with the way they met and fell in love. Especially considering the very sheltered life Jacinta had lived. Suddenly, after living twenty years in a cloister covenant, she is rescued from a bad situation by Demon, has sex with him (repeatedly) and soon tells him ow much she loves him. And I'm sure she does—but he is her first real encounter with a person of the opposite sex (and I don't just mean physically). How can you fall for the first man you really know?

3.5 STARS! Demon and Jacinta's chemistry practically started a fire between the pages of Demon Seed! I truly enjoyed reading this book, and I will be putting Carlo's other books on my list. It's too bad that I, once again, started a series out of order—I think this series is one that is better suited when read in the correct order. If you like a good Navy SEAL team story with enough passion to spark a fire and an alpha male that will make you droll, Demon Seed is a perfect choice!
