[Kame's Review]: "Abiding Ink"

Abiding Ink by Ranae Rose
Publisher: CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform (November 21, 2013)
Series: Inked in the Steel City, 4
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Tyler DeHaven may look like a bad boy, but there’s got to be more to the tattoo artist who volunteers at the hospital during the holiday season. Inviting him to a work Christmas party seems innocent enough … at first. Problem is, he’s just as irresistible as he looks and falling fast is more than Mallory bargained for. After all, she’s reminded every day what a gamble love can be, and there’s no question that with him, the stakes are high.

It may be cold outside but Mallory Stephens is the hottest nurse Tyler has ever laid eyes on. To top it off, she also likes ink and wants him to be her holiday party date. He’s not going to say no, and when things get rocky, he’s not going to let their passion frost over, either.

Can a brand-new romance survive the chill as snow falls in the Steel City?

Kame's Review:

Tyler figures if he is driving his sister to volunteer at the hospital then he might as well do some volunteering too. He is wheeling a cart of questionable food items to patients rooms when he almost runs into Mallory as she is about to check on a patient. There is something about him she can’t forget and when it is obvious a date to a holiday party might be the best deterrent for the Dr. who is known to hit on the nurses Mallory asks Tyler as her date.

I must confess until I read this book Tyler was not a series character on my radar. Now he is one of my favorite heroes in the series. He is a true artist and takes his tattoo craft seriously. Mallory has a career so removed from tattooing but appreciates the art. Tyler and Mallory felt a pull almost instantly and I did enjoy the steamy scenes.

The few party sequences allow us a glimpse at previous series characters, but nothing that gives us complete update on all these past characters. This book’s focus is Tyler and Mallory and their relationship was unique to the series.  I did not see one duplicate date from a previous book or even a steamy scene that seemed reused.  Everything from a snowy dinner date to the proposal was fresh and new.  And this is why I will continue to look forward every book in this series!

Meet Kame:

Kame is part of a family of readers; one day she picked up the Nook she purchased for her husband and discovered her love of e-books. A few months later he purchased one for her so he could have his back! Kame’s Nook is never far, and she is hard pressed to pick a favorite book, genre or author. As long as there are characters that make her want to sit down and have a chat and a plot keeps the pages turning, she’ll read it.
