[Kame's Review]: "See Jane Fall"

See Jane Fall by Katy Regnery
Publisher: Boroughs Publishing Group (March 28, 2014)
Series: Heart of Montana, 3
Genre: Contemporary Romance

When Trend magazine contracts Lindstrom & Sons to manage a fashion shoot in Yellowstone, easygoing Lars Lindstrom rolls his eyes. “Babysitting” supermodel Samara Amaya’s assistant sounds like a snore, even amidst the park’s lush wildlife and scenery. Little does he know that Jane Mays, Samara’s down-to-earth, smart-mouthed assistant and cousin, will be the most exciting person he’s ever met. Her smoky voice and surprisingly sweet heart rock his world.

Jane has been hurt before, but this time it’s right. From loving the same music to their effortlessly sexy sparring, her handsome new tour guide gets her—and Jane is getting Lars right back until Samara blows into town. Used to living in her cousin’s shadow, Jane knows Lars will be nothing more than a notch in a bedpost if the spoiled supermodel has her way. In the past, maybe she would have stepped aside. This time she’ll find the strength to stand up to Samara once and for all…and trust that Lars will be there to catch her if she falls.

My Review:

“Sometimes you have to take a chance on crazy. Maybe crazy could be the best decision you ever made. Maybe crazy would change the course of your life.”

Lars is tasked with keeping the talent happy when his family’s business is contracted to help with the logistics of a photo shoot in Yellowstone.  He has to help the talent’s assistant prior to the supermodel’s arrival in a few days. He wasn’t expecting the assistant to rival the beauty of the model, but he wasn’t expecting her to arrive in baggy jeans, sweatshirt and a baseball cap pulled down over her eyes either. She may not look like a model but during the drive home from the airport Lars realizes that Jane maybe a little plain, but just the sound of her voice is driving him insane.

Lars, I just love him.  He has been one of my favorite Lindstrom brothers from the start of the series. As with all the Lindstrom children he has a great sense of family, and he is quite the gentleman. I would hire him in an instant to be my tour guide in Yellowstone Park.  The more Jane revealed of herself the more I enjoyed her character. Since her uncle took her in when her parents died she feels she owes him, and agrees to be her cousin’s personal assistant.  I personally wanted to kick her uncle and cousin for how they treated her. I am not sure I could have handled all the emotional abuse as long as she did.

“Lars?”

“I’ll drink to that,” he said quickly, shaking his head. “Damn Jane.”

“Wow. Yeah?”

“Yeah, a little,” he admitted, hefting the backpack meaningfully onto his lap.

She looked at his lap and her eyes widened. “Because of a toast?”

“A toast is ‘Cheers’ or ‘Bottoms up.’ That was …Marilyn Monroe singing ‘Happy Birthday, Mr. President.’ “

I enjoyed how Jane fit into Lars life and his hometown so well, making easy friendships. Their time together seemed genuine to that of a small town. We do get to check in with Erik and Jenny and their families.  Right up to the end I thought for sure I knew who the next book would be about but I was wrong!

A great addition to the series and for full enjoyment I would read the other books in the series first.
