[Pat's Review]: "Temptation"

Temptation by Robin Covington
Publisher: Burning Up the Sheets, LLC.(July 19, 2014)
Genre: Contemporary Romance

She needs to be good.

Five years ago, Kit Landry was homeless and alone at sixteen. Determined to ditch her crappy life, she moved to Nashville with only $200, her guitar, and a notebook full of songs. She hit it big as America’s country sweetheart, but a year of living like a rock star plus a stint in rehab has killed any good will she had with her label. The suits have ordered Kit to shape up or ship out of the limelight. The last thing she needs is a hot, sexy distraction with a sinful smile.

He doesn’t know the meaning of the word.

Max Butler is as far from a celebrity as you can get and he likes it that way. A Nashville firefighter, he’s living the single life with a revolving door of parties, friends, and a different woman in his bed every night. When his normal life suddenly collides with the girl on his favorite Rolling Stone cover, he sees the perfect chance to fulfill his ultimate fantasy and see just how bad Kit can be.

Sometimes bad is so very good.

With three weeks until Kit leaves for her big tour, Max promises to give her a break from being the good girl--no strings attached. But when hot days lead to sultry nights, the lines get blurred and suddenly three weeks of bad might not be good enough.

Pat's Review:

This novel starts with heart stopping terror.  Kit Landry, country singing superstar was trapped in a burning building alone, and losing hope.  She did all the things she remembered from grade school, staying low, wet towels over her face, but she had reached a locked fire door.  Images passed before her eyes, not of her past life, but the one she wished she had lived. Married, children, a lovely home; even a mini-van! Suddenly, there is a firefighter shoving an oxygen mask over her face, whispering words of encouragement.  She was saved, her only regret was her guitar, Jolene, was back in the building. Her firefighter was not at that moment interested in rescuing Jolene.

Max Butler was her firefighter. Flattered after the rescue of Kit and all the media attention, he hoped it would help tone down his reputation of chasing tail, drinking and fighting.  His Captain and Kit's Manager have planned a ceremony where he will receive a commendation and the press and media can make all the news they want.  This is his chance to prove his skills and that he is worthy of the promotion he is working hard for.

Kit is recovering from a very bad year. She had a breakdown. Drugs, alcohol, and misery. She has been diagnosed with a type of Bipolar disease, which her mother suffered from, and ultimately led to her suicide and Kit finding her body.  She is determined to get her career back as well as some normalcy to her life, but it seems her manager is trying to thwart her every move.  Max is immediately attracted to her, but does not want the babies and picket fences. Plus, Kit's life is lived in a fishbowl.  He couldn't survive.

This story is told by Kit and Max in alternating chapters. It makes you feel so much a part of the story.  I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and the love story it tells.
