[Pat's Review]: "Playing With the Drummer"

Playing with the Drummer by Robin Covington
Publisher: Entangled: Indulgence (December 29, 2014)
Series: Head Over Heels, 3
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Entertainment journalist Lita Matthews is on the verge of making it big. As in her-own-TV-show big. She just needs amazing inside scoop on the year's hottest celebrity wedding. Instead, her big break is becoming a big nightmare—all thanks to rock star Rocky Cardano. Who apparently hasn't gotten over what happened between them four years ago... Rocky is pretty damn familiar with just how far Lita will go for a “scoop.” Hell, their unbelievably hot hook-up in Mexico years ago was the story of a lifetime. Rocky's learned his lessons. He'll do whatever it takes to keep her from the story—even if he has to seduce her to the point of distraction! But Lita has always had a way of getting under his skin. Only this time, he won't be able to just walk away...

Pat's Review:

Rock stars, drama and betrayal play out in this contemporary novel.

Lita  Matthews grew up in the shadow of her supermodel Mom and Oscar winning director father. Show business was in her blood. She chose journalism and was making a splash with her entertainment stories. So much of a splash, she was being considered for her own show. A dream come true.  She was in Montana for a friend's wedding, sister of her best friend, and hoping to capture the drama and beauty of it all. Carrie, the bride, has asked her to videotape the wedding and prenuptial parties. Her husband to be Jake Mitchell, lead singer for the popular band The Rift, was previously engaged to a country star diva from hell, and broke the engagement when he met Carrie. The Diva is causing nothing but trouble for the couple. Lita was hoping to defuse some of the negative publicity with a glowing version of the happy couple.

Rocky Cardano, drummer for the band, famous for his sexual escapades, is trying his best to convince Carrie and Rocky that no journalist is honest, they are always looking for the best story. He has some personal experience with journalists, unfortunately the journalist was Lita. They met totally by chance in Mexico and had a very hot few days until Rocky turned and rejected her. In her hurt and anger she published a piece on his location, and ruined his quiet getaway. He hasn't forgotten her treachery despite multiple apologies.  He is more upset about the fact he is still attracted to her and they are being thrown together as a couple for the wedding. No man has made Lita forget Rocky.......despite his arrogant treatment of her now. Their love/hate relationship is about to set off fireworks.

This is an exciting contemporary novel with the fascinating life of rock stars and their lives in constant flux due to the paparazzi. It is also a very sweet love story that I read in a single sitting.

4 STARS!
