[Kame's Review]: "Deputy's Bride"

Deputy's Bride by Anita Philmar
Genre: Historical Romance

A hot, historical western stand-alone story with a satisfying HEA.

Texas Deputy Bo Kildare is looking for a special kind of lady, one that is willing to meet his special requirements. No sweet little virgin will do, he wants a woman who knows how to please a man, perhaps two.

Recently widowed, Sarah Elizabeth Foster-LaFever has lived in the public eye for the last few years and wants out. Her reputation as Micah LaFever’s wife has left her penniless and without many viable options until Bo comes calling.

Now, she believes she found the perfect man until her past rears its ugly head. Can murder and corrupt dealings keep these two lovers from making it to the alter?

Kame's Review:

Sarah is a widow and wants to marry again, more for stability than love. Bo is a Deputy and wants to marry but has definite preferences he knows not every bride will enjoy.

This was an extremely quick read for me. I read it in a few hours. The description states it is a historical, yes it did occur during times of the wild west; however there is very little historical detail that would satisfy a reader who adores historical detail.  The plot is extremely basic and there isn't much story around the steamy scenes. However the description I read did state this was the third in a series so maybe some of the detail about Bo and his brother and the town in general were shared in other titles.

This is an extremely steamy read. The steam starts within the first few pages and does not really let up until the end. It is not the type of book I would read in the small confines of a plane or during my break at work. Bo would not make it on the list of my favorite book boyfriends, however some of these scenes were some of the hottest I have read this year.

It wasn't the best book I read this year, but it did serve a purpose. Sometimes I read a completely different for me - not my normal genre - to sort of clean my reading palate and shake things up. Anita Philmar does not make it on my must read author list; however I would definitely give another one of her books a try.

3 1/2 STARS!
