Pat's Review:

Lizzie Adler grew up in the foster care system, and has one thing to be thankful for. Her foster sister and best friend Jules.  She has just landed the internship she has been waiting for. A trip to Italy for a series of reality spots that has her training  with the Master Chef Massimo Bianco at his world class restaurant Ristorante Massimo's. She has quit her job, left her sister behind in New York City and headed for Rome. This job and the money is very important to Lizzie and Jules as well. Jules wants to go to grad school to become a social worker and Lizzie has promised to help her.

Dante De Fiore is a chef who loves food and women. Not necessarily in that order. He grew up at the family vineyard, never feeling like he belonged. His mother died in childbirth and he can't shake the feeling his Dad resents him for it. His older brother Stefano lost the love of his life in a car accident. Dante is beginning to feel that the men in the family are meant to grow old alone. So, he is very careful to not commit to anything that might seem like a relationship. When the beautiful American shows up at the restaurants door he assumes she is a temporary server sent by a friend. But after a long night on her feet, she explains why she is there. His immediate response is NO! He is the restaurant owner now, his grandfather had a debilitating stroke not long ago, and his plan is to sell the restaurant. Having a television crew around, with a beautiful woman in his kitchen is not possible. Not to mention she will be staying in the apartment above the restaurant, where he lives.  Lizzie is very persuasive, along with the legal paperwork that leaves him no choice.

Lizzie and Dante are attracted immediately, each fighting to not give in to their feelings.  She loves being around his family and they seem to love her, especially his grandfather Massimo.  Their relationship deepens and all seems well, until Dante is shaken to his core. He is about to throw it all away, but of all people, his father virtually shakes him to see his mistake.

This is the first of a two book series about the DeFiore brothers . It can be read as a stand alone, but after this fun romantic read I'm looking forward to the second story, Best Man For the Bridesmaid, about Stefano and Jules.

4 STARS!
