[Pat's Review]: "All Wrapped Up"

All Wrapped Up by Kimberly Kinkaid
Publisher: Zebra (September 29, 2015)
Series: Pine Mountain, 5
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Talk about a hot lead…

Christmas is coming to Pine Mountain—and it has a way of stirring up memories, good and bad. Nick Brennan may manage the Double Shot bar smooth as good whiskey, but his past is a hot mess. When he runs into a burning building to save a little boy, some people start thinking there’s more to his heroism than holiday spirit. And then the local reporter assigned to the story turns out to be gorgeous Ava Mancuso, the girl who got away.

Ava knows what it’s like to have a past. But the changes she’s seen in Nick since she knew him do more than set off her natural curiosity—his warm eyes and gruff charm have her instincts fired up. Still, all the chemistry in the world doesn’t erase history, even when Nick invites her to his little sister’s mistletoe wedding. Does he have a heart under all those secrets? Or is this going to be just another Christmas past?

Pat's Review:

This visit to Pine Mountain starts with a bang. Nick Brennan, known as Brennan, is on his way to work as the manager of Double Shot, his friend's Bar and Grill. He's a pretty quiet guy, likes to keep to himself and suffers from almost constant back pain, but no one knows the cause. Kind of a mystery man. He suddenly comes across an escalating fire in the local grocery store, where it seems everyone was out safe. He stops to try and help, and finds out there is a little boy missing. Despite the danger Brennan rushes into the store. Crowds are gathering, including the press. Several harrowing minutes later, Brennan bursts trough the door with the child on his back. Quiet, keep to himself Brennan is now a hero.

Ava Mancuso is a reporter for a local newspaper, given the lowliest of low assignments, all because she didn't fact check a previous story. She wants to win a Pulitzer, make a name for herself. She has stumbled on a local fire, with a dramatic rescue and she wants the story. But, the rescuer is a man she had disappeared from seven years ago when she was working for the summer on Sapphire Island. They had fallen in love, but for her own reasons, she had to disappear. She corners him at the  bar later that evening, and does not receive a warm welcome, especially when Brennan finds out she's a reporter. She is bound and determined to try and make amends and to get his story. Where has he been, he was supposed to go to the fire academy did he? All these questions, and a hot romance unfold in this sweet story set at Christmas time. They both have secrets, good and bad, they need to share. Will the bond they forged seven years ago, survive their secrets?
