From popular romance author Kate Meader comes the second novel in Hot in Chicago, a brand-new, sizzling series that follows a group of firefighting foster siblings and their blazing hot love interests!

As the only female firefighter at Engine Co. 6, Alexandra Dempsey gets it from all sides: the male coworkers who think she can’t do the job, the wives and girlfriends who see her as a threat to their firefighter men, and her overprotective foster brothers who want to shelter their baby sister at all costs. So when she single-handedly saves the life of Eli Cooper, Chicago’s devastatingly handsome mayor, she assumes the respect she’s longed for will finally come her way. But it seems Mr. Mayor has other ideas…

Eli Cooper’s mayoral ratings are plummeting, his chances at reelection dead in the water. When a sexy, curvaceous firefighter gives him the kiss of life, she does more than bring him back to the land of the living—she also breathes vitality into his campaign. Riding the wave of their feel-good story might prop up Eli’s flagging political fortunes, but the sizzling attraction between them can go nowhere; he’s her boss, and there are rules that must be obeyed. But you know what they say about rules: they’re made to be broken…

Pat's Review:

Alexandra Dempsey was the only female firefighter in  Engine Co. 6. Her reputation as a "ball buster" is known far and wide, as is her family of firefighter foster brothers. She became known nationally as the firefighter who took a Lamborghini down with a saw to rescue an obnoxious newspaper owner, who hated gays and women firefighters. She is still trying to live that escapade down from a year and a half ago.

She has a very abrasive relationship with the Mayor, Eli Cooper, running for re-election after four years in office. He dislikes her family and can't help but stir her anger every time they meet.

Eli is a former Marine, a proponent of veterans rights and a politician. His ex-wife is his campaign manager, and his ratings are pretty low. He needs a hot topic to bring his name on everyone's lips. A fire in a hotel he was speaking at does the trick. Alex and the fire company were working the fire, under the impression everyone was out. But suddenly a shadowy figure in a hallway filled with smoke appears. It's Eli, carrying his ex-wife to safety. But he has wasted precious minutes breathing toxic air. Alex struggles to pull him to safety, and sees that the smoke is doing it's damage....she does the one thing that is against all regulations, she shares her air. After recovering consciousness she finds out her rescue of Eli, turns into his rescue of her. The press loves it, and his ratings soar.  With some bribing and promises, Eli convinces Alex to date, just for show.  Quickly things change, they both like dating for real, not show.

This enemies to lovers story is sizzling, with lots of banter and misunderstandings. Sooner or later the truth has to come out, will their new love survive?
