A new Saturday post where you can share with us what you are currently (or just finished) reading and we will share our brief thoughts on books that we read during the previous week but will not be reviewing.
January 10th - 16th:

-- Wait for Me by Sarah Mayberry--
Easily my favorite of this series, but then again I've always loved Mayberry's books. :) While the previous two books were okay, Beth and Jonah's story really grabbed me and I enjoyed their journey. Of course I wish it could have been longer rather than just a novella, but all in all, I felt that Mayberry did a fine job with the story and the planned length. A quick read, this romance is fairly steamy, and also cute. I especially liked the scene when the two got drunk and really started to talk.
Sidenote: If you haven't read Mayberry already, what are you waiting for? 4 STARS

The only thing to do was to suck it up and keep moving forward. After all, tomorrow kept arriving no matter what she did or didn't do.

-- The Secret by Julie Garwood --
I forgot how very crazy-fun Old Skool historicals, such as this, are. Historical romances being published today are great in their own way, of course, but they're just not the same, as any reader knows.
I quite liked this one, but surprisingly I liked it more for the story and following the characters than I did for the romance. I felt the romance was a bit rushed and I didn't fully believe the love.
The odd thing is I kept asking how it was that Judith knew all of these modern (ish) ideas. She was raised in England, yes, but she wasn't from the future or anything. I did like that she was quite fierce about things and didn't back down. Over all, it made for an enjoyable read. 3 1/2 STARS

“Do you deliberately try to provoke me?” He waited for her denial. An apology, too. He didn’t get either.
“Yes, I do believe I am trying to deliberately provoke you.”

-- Give It All by Cara McKenna --
I may not have been blow away by the first book, but I'm so glad I listened to @gimmethosebooks and picked up Duncan's book.
Duncan is such a fantastic character, and unlike any hero you've probably seen before. Duncan was fantastic and fascinating, really. It didn't take long for me to start falling for him, and by the end I had developed quite the soft spot for him. And his driving gloves. And . . . GAH. Just everything.
And the sex? Amazing, as per McKenna's usual. Raina and Duncan have so much chemistry and I absolutely loved Duncan's combination of fierce, in control lover and vulnerable man who needed to be wanted.
There's also a great story line as Duncan works to uncover the truth about the murder mystery he's been pulled into. I'm very curious to see how the rest of the series goes, but I have a feeling Duncan's book will remain my favorite.
BTW, I marked a lot of quotes and scenes, many of which I shared on Twitter this past week. Those ones should all be listed under #GiveItAll, or just check my main Twitter feed. :) 4 1/2 STARS

“She smiled sweetly. “I bet you jack off with your pinkie stuck up in the air, don’t you?”
His smirking lips twitched, faint and quick as a flea sneezing. “Picture it however you like.”
