Whatcha Reading? (30)

A new Saturday post where you can share with us what you are currently (or just finished) reading and we will share our brief thoughts on books that we read during the previous week but will not be reviewing.

January 17th - 23rd:

TBQ:

-- Too Hot to Handle by Victoria Dahl --

Solid (and quick) read. Dahl does a great job with fun quotes, dirty jokes, and steamy sex, as always. I did have a hard time believing that in this small town, where everyone knows EVERYONE, no one told the heroine who the hero was. STARS

-- Getting Him Back by K.A. Mitchell --

Another quick, but enjoyable read, with some angst and a good dose of sexy thrown in. I had a hard time connecting with Ethan's immature actions at times, but otherwise no real complaints. Full review Feb 12th! 3 1/2 STARS

I didn't realize that a smile from someone who acted like they didn't know how to meant a lot more than one from someone who smiled at everyone.

-- The Mistake by Elle Kennedy --

I really liked Hannah and Garret's book (The Deal -- Kame's review) last year, but man, Logan and Grace's book . . . perfect!

Sexy as hell, including a lot of great fooling around before they ever sleep together, plus great tension and chemistry throughout. It's also a truly fun read; my Kindle has a lot of scenes highlighter that made me smile or laugh. I forgot how much I enjoyed this group of hockey players, and Kennedy's writing style in general.

And let's not forget the feels, too. I had all the feels for Logan and his shitty situation. I could relate to it (to an extent, of course).

I cannot wait to start Dean's book. He capture my attention from the start, but will he knock Logan out of my favorite's spot? We'll see....

ROYAL PICK -- 4 1/2  STARS

-- North of Need by Laura Kaye --

Meh. It was a quick read, but a bit too predictable, rushed and cheesy for my taste. I was left very much underwhelmed by the book; it wasn't bad, it wasn't great, it just . . . was. Which is the worst kind of book to explain, I know.

I did like the unique aspect of the story -- Owen being a God of Winter -- but all in all, I just wasn't terribly impressed. I read it, it was okay, but I'm not in any rush to continue the series at the moment. 2 1/2 STARS
