Whatcha Reading? (39)

A new Saturday post where you can share with us what you are currently (or just finished) reading and we will share our brief thoughts on books that we read during the previous week but will not be reviewing.

March 20th - 26th:

TBQ:

-- As Good as New by Jennifer Dawson --

My first time reading Dawson, but I don't believe it will be my last. I'm interested in enough in some of the previous couples, and enjoyed Dawson's writing style, that I'll probably go back to the other books (at some point -- because, hello TBR Mountain!). What I loved the most was the build up and tension in the first 1/2 of the book. Dawson does it wonderfully. This is a second-chance romance, and the heroine is the best friend to the hero's sister (which, as we know in romance land, is a big no-no).

I did feel like the last 15% of the book slowed down and left me a bit disappointed, though I can't pinpoint what exactly the issue was. 4 Stars

Favorite quote:

She looked like the girl he used to know and this strange, mysterious woman she'd become.

Like everything he'd loved about the past, and everything he feared about the future.

She looked like sex and life.

Like something too wild to contain and too addictive to let go.

-- Knit Tight by Annabeth Albert --

*happy sigh* I loved this book. Seriously loved it. Sexy yet so sweet, with a good punch of emotions. I may have even been near tears during one part. I'll have a full review and favorite quotes up April 6th. It'll also go into the April Royal Picks. :) 4 1/2 Stars

-- An Immortal's Song by Carrie Ann Ryan --

A quick read if you're looking for a triad relationship between a virgin merman, a fae prince, and a human woman (though she's not completely human . . . no spoiler though!). :) I must admit, overall this one was a "meh" for me. Nothing bad about, but nothing outstanding, either. I have read previous books from Carrie and enjoyed them, especially an earlier triad romance she did (Trinity Bound). It should be noted I've only read book one in this particular series and this is book 6. Don't be like me. 3 Stars
